This is my painting “Can you use it in a sentence?.” Teaching and education has been an important part of my family’s history, so when I came across this vintage speller I had to make a painting around it. This painting is only 6x6in.

This is my painting “Jen’s Treasure,” inspired by “To Kill a Mockingbird.” It is a trompe l’oeil painting framed within a vintage cigar box giving the viewer the experience of opening the cigar box and looking at the contents within.

This is a photo of a painting that has been put just inside of a vintage cigar box’s opening to give the illusion of looking into the box and seeing its contents. Within the painting are buttons, crayons, marbles, pennies, paper clips, a Blue jay feather, a pocket watch, a skeleton key, a pocket knife, and two red soap dolls (1 male and one female with a scrap of fiber as a dress). This is an image showing that you can close the cigar box lid over the painting.

My painting “The Misunderstanding.” This is one of the few paintings I have done that doesn't have a literary inspiration. Instead it was inspired by an article I had read about bees drinking fermented nectar. It is available for purchase.
