10 years since we lost Bowie. Can we all agree that the world has gone to hell in a handcart since that day?

This will be tough….Fortunately, as well as some classic debut albums, a few of my my favourites released average records straight out the traps before they really got going…which eases it a little. Only a little mind!

Somehow managed to repeatedly miss this when it’s been on before. Wonderfully atmospheric, and the twist is brilliant.
On BBC 4 Extra at 4pm: a repeat of @tobyhadoke.bsky.social’s estimable and effective 2018 radio adaptation of The Road. Genuinely not to be missed if you’re a Nigel Kneale fan.

Nice reminder of last week. Black & White was incredible. John’s songs on this are brilliant. Saw them three times on the Miles&Gil tour…can’t believe nearly 20 years ago..

Shack on imperious form tonight. Gig of the year for me. John’s guitar loud in the mix. Perfection.

Music confession: I spent years thinking that "Peel session" was some kind of British music industry term. Like a special category of stripped-down studio recording

But no, fellow Americans: It turns out there's just this one guy named Peel, and those were his sessions....

"Teenage Wasteland" is maybe the best two-word phrase in rock history and frickin Pete Townshend had to name the song "Baba O'Riley"

Finally able to spend some time with this record. Great songwriting and playing, lots of room for the songs to breathe.

Today I watched “Tweedledum” the episode of Colditz with Michael Bryant and Bernard Kay for the first time. One of the best episodes of anything I’ve ever seen.
Must be a @tobyhadoke.bsky.social favourite!
