The Chough at South Stack where unusually difficult this time, having seen them very close from the carpark before. Still managed to pick out 2 distant birds in a nearby field though. #birds #ukbirding #anglesey #southstack #wales #chough #corvid #birdsseenin2026

Black Guillemot. Anglesey, yesterday. After basking in the beauty of the Bufflehead - boom - bedazzling bonus bird. Bravo, birder. Bloody brill. Saw 3. #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #anglesey #wales

Some more from yesterday. Female Stonechat (Rhyl), Shag, Rock Pipit, Fulmar (Anglesey). #anglesey #birds #ukbirding #wales #stonechat #shag #rockpipit #fulmar #birdsseenin2026

We have a winner! 25 Purps on the rock. I counted 29, but could only get 25 in the pic.

How many Purple Sandpiper can you count? From Anglesey, yesterday. #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #purplesandpipers #anglesey #wales

Another 2 stills from a bit of the Surf Scoter video. You can see the white patch at the back & front of the head & a bit of the orange/red on the bill. #ukbirding #birds #surfscoter #birdsseenin2026 #wales #colwyn

Surf Scoter @ Old Colwyn was incredibly difficult. We gave up after an 1.5 hrs of scanning 100s of Common S over a wide area in very choppy conditions. Then we got gen of location from beach, so we went back and Gary got it. Somehow I managed to get a video of it in flight, still here. #birds

After seeing the Lesser Yellowlegs in Rhyl for an all too brief seconds, we scanned in vain to try and relocate it. On the walk back, a large Pipit caught my eye and it was a Water Pipit! I always struggle to connect with bird and last saw one in 2024. #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #waterpipit

I arrived on Anglesey before first light and I was the first person to see this drake Bufflehead this morning, which was quite close in. Amazing pink legs! #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #ducks #bufflehead #loveducks @angbirdnews.bsky.social

Fantastic #goosing in North Norfolk today: 1,000 Russian Whitefronts (570 Holkham, 310 Overy, 114 Titchwell), 570 Barnacles, 8,000+ Pinks and 💥32💥 Tundra Beans (19 Bircham, 8 Burnham Market, 3 Holkham, 1 Overy, 1 Titchwell) #beanfeast #norfolkbirding

Yesterday I failed to see any Tundra Bean’s in a huge field full of Pinks at Docking. I went back today and successfully picked out 2 of them. Also had 2 Glossy Ibis from the car at Stiffkey, opposite the Red Lion pub. #lovenorfolk #birds #birdsseenin2026 #ukbirding #norfolkbirding

A short film I’m calling BIRDING OBLIVIAN. #norfolk

A few years ticks at Titchwell this afternoon. Slav Grebe distance and diving like mad, but this female Scaup was close in. Male Shoveler,
2nd pic. As normal, Water Pipit eluded me. #norfolkbirding #ducks #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026

Knot, close in shore, this morning. Unusual to see this plumage in Feb? Just missed a Merlin before this too. #lincsbirding #ukbirding #birdsseenin2026 #knot #birds

The Cackling Goose, of probable Dutch feral origin, on the east coast this morning. Nice to see, whatever the provenance. #lincsbirding #birdsseenin2026 #ukbirding #birds #cacklinggoose

Some of the White-fronted Geese near Elm House Farm at Saltfleetby yesterday. One bird appeared injured and was hopping. #lincsbirding

Failed 2 weeks running to add a new bird to my Lincs list, despite the opportunities. Had the most White-fronts I’ve ever seen today though & Grey Wag & GN Diver were NFY. I would have preferred an 8hr round trip for a Baikal Teal though! Nice to meet @robstevenson.bsky.social too.

Little Gull and juv White-tailed Eagle from Sunday. #birds #ukbirding #birdsseenin2026

Another one if the Great-tailed Grackle… looking certifiably crazy. #birds #ukbirding #grackle #birdsseenin2026 #untickable

It may be ‘untickable’ but this bird was the most entertaining of the day for me (& I’ve seen a wild one in Mexico). Astonishing sounds it was producing, including what I’m sure was a shutter on a camera. No surprise - this bird oozed charisma. #birds #ukbirding #untickable #grackle #birdsseenin2026

Got the Killdeer today, with a juv WTE flyover & Little Gull & then the Grackle. If I knew what the return journey was going to be like, I wouldn’t have gone. Full of flu, a splitting earache & shivering made the drive home the worst I’ve ever done. Still.. Killdeer, eh? #ukbirds #birds #killdeer
