Whether he's aware of it or not, it is on Kennedy's watch that HHS is gutting research on the same chronic illnesses that he and the MAHA movement claim to care about.
DURBIN: How can we give hope to people across the country who are suffering from so many diseases when our government is cutting back on that research?

RFK Jr: I do not know about any cuts to ALS research

D: I just read them to you!

R: I didn't know about them until you told me about them

I don't think I can adequately put into words how infuriating this is coming from these two who actively worked to undermine confidence in childhood vaccination, particularly Vinay Prasad. However, their own reference doesn't even support the insinuation behind their claim.

"Efficiency" has a specific meaning, which is the ratio of inputs to outputs. You can't calculate efficiency without measuring outputs. I can save money by not putting gas in my car, but I'm not going anywhere.
DOGE is not just cutting inputs, it's cutting outputs, which is a Congressional issue.
DOGE is not a govt efficiency project. Firing 1 in 4 fed employees would cut govt spending by 1%. DOGE is a political control project. Firing and terrorizing public employees is a means to weakening state regulation & strengthening a personalist presidency donmoynihan.substack.com/p/doge-misma...

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen.

Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !”

Well, that Pfizer ad for knocking out cancer couldn't have come at a worse weekend of fed news.

Not going to “knock cancer out” if biomedical research halts because research institutions can’t keep their light on…
