Worrying news about the ongoing talks about the future of shipping emissions, and the possibilities to mobilise climate finance. We need an ambitious agreement, and it should include a levy!

China’s air pollution controls (2013–2017) cut PM2.5 by 28.6% & black carbon by 20.4%, reducing hospitalisations for heart disease, stroke & depression. Depression saw the largest decline (34.4%).

Discussing trade-offs in development is more crucial than ever. Pointed out by @lflopezcalva.bsky.social at a recent World Bank Report launch. Reminded me of Amartya Sen: The first question of economics is not what to produce, but what to sacrifice.
