It’s kind of amazing that Ravage, Laserbeak and Buzzsaw have never gotten better toys than the originals, despite being such staples that practically every line has a couple of them. Ravage and the Birds look great in both modes and are surprisingly poseable for the time.

This guy is FUN. His little cassette deck guys, the battery compartment being weapon storage,that wicked head sculpt, it all works so well. For a G1 toy he’s just loaded with fun.

But on the other hand, he looked really cool, and oh that amazing synth voice and way of speaking. Soundwave was the ultimate contradiction - stupidly lame yet super cool.

Now for some history, I came into the Fandom with Beast Wars. But when I began looking into G1, the Cons baffled me. The autobots all made sense and Starscream being a jet. But then Megatron turned into a hand gun and his number one lieutenant turned into… a cassette deck? How lame is that?

As usual, Epic Encounters knocked the molds here out of the park. The Kobolds were a lot of fun to paint, with their Bone Masks and little details. I also tried to make it look like their bases were cracked lava, and experimented a lot with the flames.

Today’s TF Tuesday Figure of the Day the Transformers One Studio Series Starscream.
He was fun to paint but the resin pieces they used were very brittle - fortunately painting make it easy to cover to glue seams and on a undead dragon, you certainly can’t tell.

He’s a Blue Dracolich, so I knew I wanted him to match the Young Blue Dragons I’d already painted. I’m rather proud of the way he turned out - he definitely looks like something rotting and skeletal and you can see the matching colors of the young ones under the rot.

This was one of Neca’s last PacRim Kaiju figures and he is just absolutely fantastic. He’s a killer design with an upside down battery ram head and the figure does it a lot of justice - other than being a bit top heavy which… understandable.

They’ve got the Bumblebee which I’m disappointed doesn’t have a toy head, Outback who I don’t need because he’s basically tan Brawn and… Wheelie? Ok I need the Wheelie. I’ve got fingers crossed for a good Huffer and a toy accurate Windcharger.
