There's a new motor in town! 🏎️ 🔬

Out in @natchem.nature.com , our latest study introduces a light-driven diazene molecular rotary motor able not only to achieve directional motion, but also to invert the rotation by varying the colour of the light supplied.

Wavelength-steered directional rotation in an autonomous light-driven molecular motor - Nature Chemistry
The rational design of autonomous light-powered molecular motors remains a formidable challenge in nanoscience. Now, a photochemically driven diazene-based rotary motor has been shown to rotate around...

Excited to share the award of a Starting Grant within the Italian Fund for Science scheme 🎉

As the Italian congener of the ERC-StG, this generous grant (>1 M€) will allow us @unibo.it to develop and implement light-driven molecular motors in complex matrices and biorelevant assemblies ⚗️🏎️🔬⚙️

From @apoethig.bsky.social,‬ [2]rotaxanes with enhanced reactivity (@jacs.acspublications.org).

These rotaxanes were shown to deprotect faster compared to non-interlocked structures due to conformational preorganisation.
