Year XXVII covering the NFL & year XXII chronicling the Broncos, now for DenverSports.com. “Enjoy every sandwich." -- Warren Zevon
ESPN’s FPI ranking:

The Broncos beat the Chiefs and stood pat at No. 11, while the Chiefs remain at No. 1. 🤷‍♂️

(Also a reminder that the Chiefs are fundamentally the same team as they were last year, they’re just losing all the close games instead of winning them.)

From 5-12 to the year before he arrived to 8-9, 10-7 and now 9-2.

Sean Payton ought to be getting some Coach of the Year chatter.

Just digging through stuff from Sunday and nothing’s more hilarious than seeing Chiefs fans complain about another team getting the benefit of the calls. Talk about having the self-awareness of a bag of almonds.

Sean Payton's bold proclamations in training camp were on the money: This team CAN go to a Super Bowl.
Yes, the Broncos are Super Bowl contenders
The Super Bowl that Broncos coach Sean Payton talked so boldly about back in July? It's not just a crazy goal; it's realistic now.

From Sunday's game:

QBR
Mahomes 56.4, Nix 43.2
EPA/Play
Mahomes 0.13, Nix 0.11
Success Rate
Nix 50%, Mahomes 39%

The Broncos are 4-0 when Nix's QBR is below 45.0 this season.

To paraphrase Gary Kubiak, there's a lot of ways to win.

What a game. What a day. Let's talk about it. I've got a lot to say. My breakdown after the Broncos' most significant win in nearly a decade:
Did Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos Just GRAB the AFC West Torch From Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs?

Regression to the mean is a thing and it is hitting the Chiefs hard. Fundamentally, they’re basically the same team they were last year. But they were 12-0 in one-score games in ‘24 & 0-5 this year. And the Broncos went 2-8 in 2024 and September 2025. They’re 6-0 since; they’ve ascended to the mean.
@masedenver.bsky.social I wish I could find it. On one of your social media accounts, I seem to remember a post from last season when you said that the Chiefs reverting back to the mean was going to be glorious.

As per usual with you, such an astute observation.

They were 1-2, now they’re 9-2. #Math
I thought it was a 7-game winning streak. And I've been seeing fans say that the Colts are Superbowl bound instead of the Broncos. Going into a bye with a 9-2 record is putting smiles on Broncos fans' faces. I'm happy for them.

I’m an unabashed Adam Trautman enthusiast.

“If you’re talking s*** about Bo online, you’re a coward. Absolute coward… We don’t really care what people have to say, so, Dragonslayer69 w/ his 7-11 Slurpee in his mom’s basement, I don’t give a s*** what he has to say, right? And Bo doesn’t, either.”

Broncos 22, Chiefs 19 — FINAL

Denver has the AFC West on lockdown. Bo Nix & the offense did it again in the clutch. The defense smothered KC for a 3-and-out to set up the game-winning drive. All three phases made big plays. The winning streak is 8. Super Bowl dreams are real.

HOLY SMOKES ... The Broncos defense gets the Chiefs to go three-and-out. Ja'Quan McMillian adds to his huge game with a sack for an 11-yard loss. The Broncos will get the ball with a chance to win it right here. First-and-10 at their 26.
November 17, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Wil Lutz is GOOD from 54 yards out, and with 4:10 left, the game is tied at 19-apiece.
November 17, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Only 201 no-shows today for Broncos-Chiefs.
November 17, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Heck of a punt for Jeremy Crawshaw under pressure. 4.85 seconds of hang time, to the right sideline, out of bounds. 57 yards net and gross, no return.
November 17, 2025 at 12:06 AM
Talanoa Hufanga whiffed on Travis Kelce, and that's it. Touchdown, Chiefs, but the lead is only 19-16 after Frank Crum blocks the extra point.
November 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Riley Moss has been called for 91 yards in penalties today.
November 16, 2025 at 11:57 PM
That's penalty No. 9 against the Chiefs, for 74 yards in infractions. Denver has 6 penalties for 75 yards today.
November 16, 2025 at 11:55 PM
The Broncos settle for the 38-yard yard Wil Lutz field goal and a 16-13 lead.
November 16, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Pat Bryant checks back into the game.
November 16, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Pat Bryant walks off the field without assistance, flanked by Broncos medical personnel. He's headed for the blue medical tent.
November 16, 2025 at 11:40 PM
A big play for Pat Bryant, but he is down after landing hard on his left shoulder after a 48-yard reception. He is still down on the field receiving treatment from Broncos medical personnel. Broncos teammates gathered near him.
November 16, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Touchdown, Chiefs -- Kareem Hunt with the 2-yard run as the Chiefs respond. Mahomes' 61-yard third-down pass to Thornton just past the outstretched arm of McMillian set up the score. We're tied again, now at 13-apiece.
November 16, 2025 at 11:34 PM
TOUCHDOWN -- Jaleel McLaughlin, 4 yards, into a thicket of blue and red helmets, pushed through by a mass of Broncos for the score.

13-6 with 4:03 as the Broncos march 90 yards for the first touchdown of the day here in Denver.
November 16, 2025 at 11:25 PM
And after all the missed connections to Troy Franklin ... the unicorn, a perfect, in-stride shot down the left sideline that moves the Broncos to the Kansas City 40. One play later, Nix hits Sutton and Denver is at the KC 27. Things are happening.
