Reminder - the 5 Calls App provides scripts, telephone numbers, and connects you to your politicians really easily. Make calls/comments and tell them you disapprove of what's happening.

Political offices track key words/themes in these calls. Overwhelm them. Make it known you don't agree.

I'm curious what music is giving you strength this week?

I just found this song -- and it's the marching band, deep bass that I need for encouragement and badassery.

We grieve, but we rage. We support us.

WOOPs. Trying to be more present here! Did y'all know I switched up jobs and moved from insect biomechanics to project management? Loving the change and I still get to do a lot of science communication about my past research!

Arizona doing good things for me and Buzz.

Spooky season is upon us!

Read an amazing story!
I have a new story in the Autumn 2024 issue of @kaleidotrope.bsky.social! “In a Clearing on the Darkest Day” is an Ibsen-inspired monster story about memory and the things that feed on our grief. I’m excited to share it with you all: kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2024/...

Hey #SICB2024 and colleagues, I have a student who loves to work w/turtles and is an undergrad graduating Spring from Cornell Biology. He's looking for a tech/lab assist position + looking at zoos + aquariums

Does anyone have connections/willing to do informational interviews?

Are pesticides bad for bumblebee flight?? Yes! 😂

Come to P156 to learn from my awesome undergrad Matt Huang. He’s looking for tech positions after he graduates this Spring!

His true passion is turtles, so if you know of opportunities, please let me know!

Come see my student Corey Reese at 3:30 today!! Poster 10 😎

Learn about why millipedes are so smelly and…sticky?? And how we’re teasing apart a chemical puzzle!

Yes! Let's definitely mask during the meeting!!

I'm still planning on being the social butterfly that I lovvveee to do at this meeting, but I will be masked.

Can I also say, I love having my mask on a necklace? It's cute, shiny, and I don't lose track of it!
I'm bringing 100 KN95 masks to #SICB2024, so feel free to ask if you need some! I believe they also have them at the reg desk. Masking is strongly encouraged at the meeting! Please protect your colleagues and 😷

Using this app more in 2024!

It's my last hurrah for the academic job market, and I'm on the hunt for project management positions within science, yes a broad search. I love working with people with a goal that helps our planet!

If you hear of opportunities, please let me know!

#SICB2024 starts tomorrow! I've been in Seattle visiting family, cross country skiing, and resting a ton.

Stay tuned for updates on millipede secretions (it's a glue and a smell!), how pesticides change bumblebee flight (you guessed, it's bad), and my work on insect hydraulics!

Coming at this app a bit slowly, but I intend to find community and post about bugs, science, life more!
