People using drugs either have an #addiction, so should be offered treatment. Or they do it for fun, stress relief, or other reasons. As to which, I have no negative opinion. Except that we should encourage kids to wait to reduce their addiction risk. #drugs #harmreduction

#Trauma can play a significant role in the development of an #addiction. The more adverse childhood experiences, the more likely this is to develop. Substance use can be viewed as an adaptation to trauma as people use to get relief from painful emotions or to avoid feeling numb. #PTSD

It took me quite a while to appreciate my husband's quieter love. Without the ongoing emotional intensity of conflicts and verbal fights, I thought he didn't love me that much. I learned in therapy this was a #ptsd reaction. #husbandandwife #recoveryposse

When people celebrate #recovery anniversaries I usually reply "good work." Because that, to me, is the key. And it seems to me that too many don't give themselves the accolades they deserve. Seeing yourself as competent can help with navigating all of life. #recoveryposse #empower
