Plenty of Hawfinch and Goshawk on show in the Forest of Dean yesterday on a glorious sunny, 'Bluesky' day... for a change!

Our first ever February record of Tundra Bean Geese with nine in flight over Pilning Wetlands, New Passage yesterday. Sadly they departed without leaving a calling card. 😉

I spent a few hours in Somerset today... particularly around CVLake...

Stacks of Cattle Egret (42) supported by Little and Great White, three Marsh Harrier, several pairs of Goldeneye and Red Kite.

A New Forest and Poole Harbour thrash today advanced my 2026 year list to 102! 🤣

New Forest Crossbills but no GG Shrike... 🙄

Poole Harbour Grebes (Black-necked 10, Slavonian 7, Red-necked and G Crested lots!) plus at least six Great Northern Diver.

Grey Heron, Teal, Mallard, Red Kite (8), Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, RL Partridge, Common Snipe, Common Gull, Redwing, Fieldfare, Linnet, Chaffinch, Corn Bunting (45)... NO Yellowhammer!

The S. Glos 2026 year list got off to a cracking start with 109 species logged so far!

Highlights:
Bewick's Swan, White-fronted Geese, Cattle Egret, Firecrest, overwintering Whinchat and our first ever January record of Penduline Tit.

There were two new additions..,
BOOTED EAGLE found by Andy Stockhausen on March 22nd.
CASPIAN TERN found by Matt Plenty on July 19th.

Stardate: 03.12.two-zero.2.5:

Impulse engines dropped us off in the B-o-S system for a very confiding Kentish Plover then on 'breaking news' a Warp 9 flash down to 'The Exe' (piloted by Commander Nige 'Whiskers' Warren in the shuttle Mazda 3) for a resolved Lesser Crested Tern!
