The summer chafer (Amphimallon solstitiale), a nice beetle with delicate little claws. I experienced one summer-they proliferated massively-what a ride! A swarm flies through, and dozens of brown little bodies keep bumping into you as you block their path. This one was alive, later happily flew away

It seems that these days, it's much easier, cheaper, and above all, many times safer to travel to China than to the USA. And that's a terribly tragic realization.

A very young great tit (Parus major) was wobbling around the garden. It could sort of fly already, so after resting in the shade, it set off on its next journey. A truly lovely experience.

This was most likely a balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus). It caught my attention with its color and the striking beauty with which it peeked out among the ferns...

Today, what was likely a Dark Bush-cricket (Pholidoptera griseoaptera) got stuck in my eye. A very pleasant insect, and it tickles a lot in the palm of your hand...

Today, an interesting caterpillar—it’s quite possible that it’s a young Grey Dagger Moth (Acronicta psi). Beautiful, isn’t it?

Cosmopolitan cellar spider (Pholcus phalangioides) is one of the spiders I get along with pretty well. And right now, there's quite a bunch of them here...

Here's an older one, but I still like it. Catching (and releasing) crayfish in Moravice river in our countryside. A very cool experience not only for our sons. I found a few crayfish recipes in my great-grandmother's old cookbook - but these crayfish survived unscathed. 😉 Photo: Dan Jedlička

Well, today I met this one - unfortunately dead, hit by a car... 😢 Bird of the year 1996 in the Czech Republic, red-backed shrike (Lanius collurio). A truly beautiful bird. I have entrusted little ants to take care of him... 🤷‍♂️

Yesterday I have met fellow(s) with a very magnificent name - grey tiger longhorn beetle (Xylotrechus rusticus). As you can see, they were just in the middle of something. He is not a very pleasant neighbour-he eats and lives in wood. Not ideal to have him in the rafters (not my case yet, though).

Yesterday I met this one: the ant bag beetle (Clytra laeviuscula) - it's actually a cousin of the Colorado potato beetle. Also very pretty, isn't it?

An unexpected upgrade for tomorrow's lunch. Marasmius oreades, also known as the fairy ring mushroom, fairy ring champignon or Scotch bonnet. Yummy.

Today, a lonely Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), a pest, but beautiful, isn't it?

I suppose humans should disappear, at least some sort of them. The egoistic ignorants showing suicidal tendencies - by ignoring/not caring/exploiting/killing the NATURE 🤷‍♂️

Today I've been lucky to meet this lad: (hope-to-be) Adelocera murina aka click beetle.

Another spring visitor today…

Today's spring visit. The Burying Beetle. One feeler missing, but he already came this way... 😉
