For new followers, hi! I don't really know how to describe myself these days, but I used to work on @steamdb.info and various WoW tools intended to make data more accessible to more people. I'm pro-open data, anti-ad and a big supporter of game archival, with a personal focus on archiving WoW stuff.
Very happy to hear that the writers on the new Stargate show are talking with some of the old actors. Joe Flanigan (Sheppard) even went to the writers room last Wednesday and Christopher Judge (Teal'c) had lunch with the showrunner and both have a lot of faith in the writers and the new show. Yay!

This is the rantiest no-WoW post I've ever written. I also made sure to pick the most cliche image I could as a header image.
My thoughts are still in flux, so I'm curious to hear opinions/how much you hate me now, but I'm happy I finally got something written down.

All this talk of AI, I feel a blog post brewing on my personal opinions around AI and what nuances I think exist and which don't, where I exactly draw the lines and what not. It is arguably a very divisive topic but I have to also recognize that I am very 'online' compared to the average person. Hm!

All this is very neat, but I do want to note that Pinterest plans layoffs for 15% of its staff for AI expansion/prioritization reasons and has heavily invested in AI on its platform, so you may want to take that into consideration when participating in all of this. techcrunch.com/2026/01/27/p...

Spent around 2 hours not in bed the last 24 hours but it appears my headache is finally settling down a bit to the point where I can do things again without performing a balancing act of pain. Not a clue what that was, hope it was a one-off.

3 nights of bad/barely any sleep and I feel 95% dumber. Powering through some work stuff that I've been putting off but I'm making so many mistakes. At this rate this thing isn't shipping until after The Last Titan's final tier.

Wow, I didn't expect #StarfleetAcademy to hit me that hard. What started silly developed into an absolute love letter and possible top of 10 Trek episodes. The end credits weren't the only things rolling at the end of the episode. Kirsten Beyer and Tawny Newsome knocked it out of the park.

Made a slight detour to the new Muppet Show special and I had a smile on my face the whole time. I really needed that, what a great special. I really hope they get a chance to make more.

And with that, War Within is no longer active on any branch, I think. Given we have Harandar in Midnight the War Within isn't exactly over with, but close enough.
With Blizzard having locked in the RC build with this week's Beta build, Midnight Beta is effectively over. Outside of the intro experience I haven't really touched anything other than housing for work/hobby reasons, so I'm very curious to start playing through the zones on the 26th.

Haven't slept yet, brain is in regular overdrive still. Considered maybe going to the GP but they don't have any spots for the next 2 weeks (???) and based on their website appear very understaffed. I might need to switch to a different practice...

If everyone assumes we'll never get "China exclusive" WoW content that exists in our Retail clients (and we also get hotfixes for!), then you'll never get it. There is no technical reason why we can't have it, just a purely organizational one, keep pushing Blizzard to add them through other means.

Yesterday we were notified a scummy (+ scammy) third-party has been ripping user builds from the WoWDB Housing DB and other sites/socials to resell them, we just pushed image watermarking to make their lives a bit more difficult, but do keep pressuring Blizzard to do something about the situation.

As of a change a few days ago removing eu.cdn.blizzard.com as Battle.net CDN for EU, the EU region is now down to 1 CDN (level3.blizzard.com) which has a tendency to misbehave sometimes. Hope this won't cause too many issues with actual Battle.net installs...

The new secret has a cameo of Doug Roberts, the human male scale model. He's called Doug at Blizz but explorers have always called him Robert, so it is nice to see him canonicalized in this manner and having a name that combines the official/community names.

Sick and tired, both mentally and physically after a pretty eventful night and reading yet again more negative things that make one disappointed in humanity. Taking it easy today, will be doing some WTL work/prepping for a Patreon update tomorrow, but that'll be it.
