For new followers, hi! I don't really know how to describe myself these days, but I used to work on @steamdb.info and various WoW tools intended to make data more accessible to more people. I'm pro-open data, anti-ad and a big supporter of game archival, with a personal focus on archiving WoW stuff.
It has been 9 years and I still think about the cool WoW winter-y town in the Mischief pet trailer every winter, one day I'll get good enough to properly recreate it. Have a good holiday season, everyone.

Dutch charity event Serious Request put on by public radio station 3FM has raised 18.4m Euro to fight muscle disease in children (you might remember Duchenne for example, the disease Mats/Ibelin had), a new record for the yearly event that has been going since 2004. Very proud of our little country.

Note that the unchecking "Community Sites and Apps" checkbox in the Battle.net Account settings does hide your house (and all your other data), so that is a short-term solution if you don't mind any other sites/armory losing access to data.

One thing that surprised me a little when we messed with this is that it exposes and effectively allows the export of all houses. There was some discussion about it overnight after the launch of Wowhead's tool made it easily accessible for users too, which I think is a good discussion to have.

One thing that surprised me a little when we messed with this is that it exposes and effectively allows the export of all houses. There was some discussion about it overnight after the launch of Wowhead's tool made it easily accessible for users too, which I think is a good discussion to have.
While working on my own roadmap for the 2025 reflection post, I am curious if we're getting another WoW roadmap soon. Maybe even a separate roadmap for player housing? Too optimistic? Probably.

I may be playing for the other team technically, but Wowhead just launched a pretty awesome tool that is basically just player housing in your browser. Great work by @zeeee.bsky.social, @eror.us, @raefwolfe.bsky.social and the rest of the @wowhead.com team!

I have done basically nothing for this release due to being sick and busy with work when I'm not sick, but today's wow.export update is a pretty big one! We're now a few weeks into WoW's housing early access and I must say it has gone much better than I expected. There's still a few issues, but a lot have been solved already. The common issues left are with dyes on certain models, gizmo making things fly off and a few missing/bad sources. Bravo!

I needed a bit of a break from work stuff today so I finished up getting a level 80 of each class thanks to Remix (alt text for explanation). Now to finish achievements/class campaigns/buying bronze things. Can you tell I pretty much only mained Alliance only before this?

Doing a ton of thinking about me, my future and all that again. Some drastic changes will need to happen next year to course correct away from disaster, just need to figure out how to get myself to do all that.

Looks like they've started removing Akamai from the CDN list across the board, doubt it was due to my post but happy they're dealing with it in that way for now. Hopefully it'll be back in the future once it is fixed!
IDK if any Blizz devs are reading this but the Akamai TACT CDN broke and has not been getting any new files for over a month, level3 (while sometimes buggy) and the Blizz CDN are OK, but I can see that both Agent and WoW are hitting 404s on Akamai pretty consistently (and having to retry others).

I know a year isn't a real thing, but I'd really like to skip the holidays and end the year as is. Might be selfish, but I'm ready for number to go up and leaving bad number behind. 3 more weeks. I can do it.

Blizzard embracing the (effectively) exploit people were doing to move their houses up due to the amount of creative builds is exactly the kind of stance I hoped to see, but frankly didn't expect. Very happy to see expectations were exceeded!
The exterior budget is now 250 (up from 200) if your house level is 3+. Live on NA now, probably coming to EU with tomorrows maintenance. It also appears that moving your house upwards might be less forbidden now, but it may need more fixes to properly show the up arrow.

Bad night so gave up on sleep for a bit to see if I can make a thing that integrates with Patreon to allow patrons access to a hosted version of WTL for those not wanting/able to run it. Turns out there is no way to test the pledge part and you need to make a test account to pledge to yourself. Ugh.
