We established the first local headstarting programme for Phelsuma day geckos, providing a critical conservation tool to secure the long-term persistence of a Critically Endangered species and a model for managing other threatened Phelsuma across the region.

The Yellow crazy ant Anoplolepis gracilipes, introduced on Reunion Island since the late 17th century, has recently emerged as a new and possibly significant threat to the Critically Endangered Manapany day gecko Phelsuma inexpectata. 🦎🌿🧪
