Storyteller and writer of fiction and history books. Lives on a hill in Worcestershire.
Belle says these words to Scrooge in 'A Christmas Carol' before she releases him from his engagement to her. Going right to the heart of the story (and my own), they have always left me feeling profoundly sad, especially as, once read, they cannot be unsaid. #books #fiction

I don't love the dishwasher, but I do respect it.
Yesterday, after I'd fed it an early treat of rinse aid, it rather gruffly (too much salt?) suggested Michelle and I might be drinking too much.
So, stay safe, and do not overdo it this Christmas...

After years of getting up at 5.20 to commute to London each day, I was persuaded that waking up early was a bit of a curse, now that I don't need to.
How wrong was I? This is an unexpected dawn view from our bedroom window. Truly, a light in the darkness. #worcestershire

This is such a simple truth, isn't it?

George wrote the fantasy novels 'A Song of Ice and Fire,' which were adapted for TV, becoming the series 'Game of Thrones' and 'House of the Dragon.'

I found this quote when researching my book, The Aston Villa Story. The club played at Wellington Road in Perry Barr from 1876 to 1897, when they moved to Aston Lower Grounds, renamed by the Birmingham Daily Mail as Villa Park. #AstonVilla #books #football #soccer

I've written four books in the History of Football series, available from Amazon. I'm currently working on The World Cup Story, and find myself in Chile in 1962...

Last year we were lucky enough to spend some time in India. Sitting before an expanse of water, cows grazing in the fields beyond, our eldest son turned to me and said: "Just write because you enjoy writing. Recognising that ambition is an achievement in itself." #books #writing

Lovely to attend our local Christmas Fayre on Saturday. There is always a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic assortment of characters.
Football and fiction books all sold really well, even some poetry! How lucky am I?

I opened the shutters to find that winter had arrived and was trying to peep through my window.
Many will focus on the cold, frosty fields, but my gaze never left the clear, blue sky, reminding me of my time at Saatchi & Saatchi: 'Nothing is Impossible' #writing #books

This was one of the many quotes I found while writing my book, The Chelsea Story. I thought it was quite ironic, given the scale of today's financial demands from modern footballers and their agents. #books #football #footballhistory #footballwriting #soccer #historybooks #chelseafc

Nearly 60 years ago, on 27 April 1966, Chelsea lost 2.0 in Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium, in a one-sided match before 70,000 fans, after which Ron Harris concluded that Chelsea: “were absolutely hammered." Better luck at Stamford Bridge this evening? #CFC #Chelsea #ChelseaFC

I wrote my first novel eight years ago, drawing on numerous trips to the North Norfolk coast, many of them as a child.

Arsenal's first match against Tottenham Hotspur was just over 138 years ago, on 19 November 1887. Spurs won the 'friendly' 2.1, but it finished 15 minutes early as Arsenal got lost on the way to the venue, so the light deteriorated before the match could be completed #coyg #ARS

120 years ago, on 18 November 1905, the FA made Chelsea play two matches on the same day. They beat Burnley in the league at Stamford Bridge, then lost an FA Cup match at Crystal Palace in the afternoon. Read The Chelsea Story, on Amazon. #CFC #ChelseaFC www.markrasdallwriting.com

My book - The Arsenal Story, available from Amazon - contains many quotes from the club's history; this refers to the club's move to North London in 1913.

Is it a good time for Aston Villa to be visiting Anfield, or will Liverpool start feeding the Slot machine again? I guess we'll find out tomorrow evening. #Villa #AstonVilla
