I am a world traveller, I have taught at university, lived in Beijing, Sydney, London, and Belgium. I now live on the Delmarva. I love dogs, good food, wine, medical science, history, and art. I am now retired and write a travel blog. J'etudie français.
Valentine's Day is almost here, romance is in the air, and nothing says romance like a French Bistro.

Finding a good Thai restaurant is always an occasion for celebration. We are fortunate in #Salisbury to have so many excellent #asiancuisine restaurants.

The main take away from my journey through the world of #craftbrewing is the pride, dedication, and passion of craft brewers for their craft. This is especially true of the people at Cyprus Roots in #PocomokeCity, #Maryland.

This area is full of national parks and refuges, one of my favorites is #Assateague National Seashore, near both #Berlin and #Oceancity, #Maryland. This park is famous for its #beach, #marshlands, and wild #horses.

We have lived here nearly ten years. But it is only in the last few that I have made an effort to explore our new home. Here is my review of #Trappe. A little gem of a town, that embodies the essence of rural #Maryland

Too often traveling in rural America means mediocre (or worse) food. But that need not be. I love driving in the gently rolling farmland of the Eastern Shore. On one such drive I found the Preston Roadhouse. I love their sprouts!

I love Asian cuisine and interior design. We are fortunate here that in spite of it being a small community, #Salisbury has a surprising number of excellent Asian restaurants.

You can't write about Delmarva without reviewing #barbecue restaurants. Barbecue plays a large role in local cuisine and culture. Barbecue, done well, can be sublime.

New Year's Day seems like the perfect time to talk about #pizza, specifically Roman pala pizza.

I recently visited Roma Alla Pala in Easton. If you haven't tried pala style pizza, you might want to give it a try.

Distillers, vintners, and brewers, oh my! When I started this project, I quickly learned that you cannot write about Delmarva without writing about our #distillery, #vineyard, and #craftbrewer industries.

I have devoted a section of my blog to this industry:

#Lewes, #Delaware is one of my favorite towns and the perfect marriage of #beach, culture, excellent dining, historic architecture, and natural beauty.

To me, there is nothing more beautiful than a #vineyard on a winter's day. There is something about a vineyard that puts me in awe of the wonder of nature and the ingenuity and perseverance of humanity.

There are an abundance of craft brewers on the Delmarva Coast. Beer, burgers, and beach is just one of life's great combinations. That combination is the theme of Ocean View Brewing Company.

What will you find at the #Lewes Maritime Museum at Cannonball House? The history of wireless, EMF meters, Sally the #ghost, cannonballs, and the War of 1812. You get all of this, and it is free.

The Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes celebrates Delaware's Dutch pedigree and the fact that the Zwaanendael colony, founded in 1631, is what saved Delaware from becoming part of Maryland. Though it did not save them from being absorbed by Pennsylvania.

One of the great joys living here is the extensive number of #craftbrewer, #distillery, and #vineyard companies. I could write an entire blog on this genre alone. I recently visited one of the better local brewers, Lewes Brewing Company.

What does Eleanor Roosevelt, the sinking of the Morro Castle, a haunted theater in NJ, and needlepoint have in common?

Art, cheese, and wine what more do you need in life? On a recent trip to Onancock I stumbled upon North Street Market. I would visit this place for the mural alone, and for the Lillet Blanc.

I like haute cuisine and fancy restaurants as much as the next guy. But I don't need a fancy meal every time I go out to eat. Sometimes all I want is a sandwich. But that doesn't mean I settle for fast-food.

Not the 51st state, but maybe Canada might consider making New England the 11th province? Think about it. New England has more in common with the Maritimes and Quebec than it does with Texas, or California - for that matter.
