What I like about this test strip is how close it is to where I want the final image to be. I’m going with the far left (Grade #0) before some Grade #5 to burn in some blacks to lift and add punch.

Walked around most of today, camera sling over my shoulder. But a single shot fired. Still, managed to pick up a copy of Graham Greene’s The Quiet American with the Hogarth cover.

Today was typewriter stories day in my ENGL101 classes, so I rolled 19 typewriters out into the student lounge, and students wrote round-robin stories on machines ranging from the 1940s-1980s. What a racket! They had a blast. ENGL102 will have their turn in a couple of weeks.

This week I am posting just one photo for Friday Faces. A new portrait taken on my first trip to Derby. This side street, more of an alleyway really, had lots of potential with the flat light. The walls on both sides are textured, weathered, battered and scraped from years of retail deliveries.
