How did Kristi Noem, a cabinet official with Secret Service protection, get her purse snatched, losing her DHS badge, passport, and maybe her phone? That's now a security risk. If she'd asked the SS to stand down to give her privacy, then the public needs to know who was she having dinner with. 1/

The Voluntary Surrender of U.S. Power
Trump’s go-it-alone approach means abdicating the country’s global influence.

Trump Tariff surrender continues with news of exemptions of phones and chips. Based on what Howard Lutnick said last Sunday, these are people you can trust ”the army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little screws to make iPhones, that kind of thing is going to come to America.”

“If a farm family voted for Trump, believing that his policies were good,” writes @davidfrum.bsky.social, “it seems strange that they would then demand that they, and only they, should be spared the full consequences of those policies”:

Only the best people: @chriscoons.bsky.social: “Every single one of the government officials on this text chain have now committed a crime — even if accidentally — that would normally involve a jail sentence. We can’t trust anyone in this dangerous administration to keep Americans safe.”

Inspired to meet new @uclaupdates.bsky.social UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk this morning at an LA City Hall reception. He opened his remarks talking about his guiding philosophy of “kindness to others”. If there was ever a time that this is needed, it’s now!

This pretty much sums it up. Appeasement, surrender, pretending we can now work with these people…I can’t believe this is what the Democratic party has come to. substack.com/@betoorourke...
Beto O'Rourke on Substack
Democrats voting for something they oppose without any input from them at a time that our country is on the express train to authoritarianism? That’s appeasement.
