Gabino is the real deal.
I've been out as gay for decades, but only this year have I been coming out publicly as intersex. I have what the doctors described as "the atrophied remnants of ovaries and a uterus." I identify as male because that's how I feel, but this makes me realize how complex and nuanced gender really is.

When I read the recent Stand anthology I was surprised there wasn't more related to AIDS since the stories take place mostly in 1990. So I wrote the kind of queer rage story I wish I'd found in the book.

When I read the recent Stand anthology I was surprised there wasn't more related to AIDS since the stories take place mostly in 1990. So I wrote the kind of queer rage story I wish I'd found in the book.
