Castletownbere RNLI rescued four fishermen last night (Wednesday 29 October) after they issued a Mayday when their 13m trawler hit a post inside the harbour and rapidly took on water.

From 1 October 2026, trawling the operating of trawl or seine nets by fishing vessels over 18 metres in length overall inside the six nautical mile zone and the baselines has been prohibited.
