On the Isle of Wight each sailing club has slightly different racing boats that have been designed to suit their environment. The Bembridge Redwings really stand out with their tall red sails with the curved top and curvaceous hull.

This is painted on rougher paper than I usually use with more texture. It made it more fun to paint but wasn't ideal for the pigment liner. As this was a simple one I painted it on location on a cold damp day, I then had a bit of a wait for the paint to dry enough to move it without it dripping.

I'm an artist based on the Isle of Wight creating busy, bright, colourful scenes full of people and action. My paintings are started by sketching on location and I finish in the studio using my own photographs for reference.
