I like films and often write about them, usually for Film Stories.
Today is going as well as you'd imagine.
It’s 1am and someone is wielding a chainsaw and an earth auger outside.

I apologise in advance to anyone who has to deal with me tomorrow.

Jalmari Helander’s #SisuRoadToRevenge takes place where my mum’s family is from and while it’s mostly a bonkers, bloody action movie, national pride is also a huge part of it. 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮

Myself and @orharveyworking.bsky.social defied gravity over on YouTube, talking about #WickedForGood and how it deals with Dorothy.

Give it a watch, a like and maybe even subscribe? We’ll be posting there a lot 🤩

With Sisu: Road To Revenge in cinemas tomorrow, the temperature dropping below zero and a little bit of snow, it's a very Finnish week 🇫🇮

I’m sorry but the more I think about #WickedForGood, the less I like it 🫣

I watched #Keeper. I low-key loved Keeper.

Haven’t been able to stop thinking about KEEPER, another deeply intriguing film from Osgood Perkins.

Some deeper thoughts:

Keeper review | A bad trip, in all the right ways
Writer-director Osgood Perkins’ second film of 2025 is a thoroughly creepy journey into the woods. Here’s our Keeper review:

I had fun with The Running Man but it’s also a film that I’ve mostly forgotten by now, less than a week after watching it. 🙂

There’s bad days and then there’s days like this.

Watched this again last night and… kinda hated it the second time around 😬🧟‍♀️
This will surprise no one but LOVED #28YearsLater 🧟‍♂️

“Emotional, feminine” —> Villain!
Chloe Zhao’s ‘Hamnet’ is emotional, feminine, directed by an Oscar winner. But it’s also not Sinners or One Battle After Another. Here’s why it’s looking like the year’s first Oscars villain.

Still not completely convinced by #DieMyLove, a film that loses its power by becoming far too repetitive for far too long, but Lynne Ramsay’s latest sure does capture pretty much every fear I have about becoming a parent and why I have chosen not to become one. #ChildFreeByChoice

I’ve already seen Die My Love and tonight I’ll have to watch it again… with my mother 🥲

Well, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is a film that exists.

I don’t know why but I really struggled to write this. I wrote and re-wrote this review several times and I’m still not sure I managed to convey the pure beauty of #Hamnet

But here it is anyway:

How we picked tonight’s movie:

Me: “Let’s watch something really nice tonight.”
Lathan: “What do you want to watch?”
Me: “MIDSOMMAR!”

So our nice movie tonight was a movie where someone was cooked alive inside a bear. 🐻
