📕 My debut memoir, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙒𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮: 𝘼 𝘿𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙞𝙧, is scheduled for release by @SheWritesPress next year.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙒𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮 confronts the legacy of intergenerational trauma, how familial history shapes us but need not be wholly determinative of who we become.

More to come...💜
Refuge can refer to shelter or protection from danger or distress, but it can also refer to a feeling of being seen and cherished, of belonging.

“Do you have children?” is a question I’ve grown used to hearing when I meet someone for the first time. Yet after all these years, I still hesitate over my answer.

I believed that if I did not need anyone, I would not be disappointed. If I could not be touched, I would remain safe. If no one knew my deepest feelings and thoughts, they would remain mine.

Home encompasses the structures we inhabit and the physical geography of a specific place, as well as the intimate landscape of the heart and spirit.

As a child, I remained the reserved one, the observer rather than participant, the child apart.

I know exactly what it means to love someone so much it hurts, and it’s not about the fear of losing them. It’s a fear that love will never be enough.

My mother said that I had her history. I wonder if she recognized what I see. The historian's role requires distance.

There is a reciprocity between each of us and the places we inhabit. We modify these environments over time, if only by our presence. And we, in turn, are changed.
