When in Camden it’s Walt’s vault and a cheesesteak from Donkeys at 1030am. Family owned since ‘43. Bourdain loved it. Vitali loves it.

Watched that endless doc about folk horror in film and thought that’d be hard to pull off in an urban setting. Next day I meet two artists from Caribbean who tell me they practice Santeria, which they call Lucumi. Yes, the folks who sacrifice animals at the lakefront. Folk me? Folk you!

This guy at Golden Gloves - I thought he was Robert DeNiro in costume for The Irishman. He was with a chunky dude wearing a Cicero T-shirt. They sat in the third row and wore sunglasses the entire night. 22 bouts last night for $25 and the best people-watching in the tristate area.

Golden Gloves finals, Cicero Stadium. This guy was in ‘masters open’ division, which I guess means old guy who signs a waiver. He was KO’ed 4 seconds into first round by the guy with the belt. It was stunning. Tomorrow we go to a drag show matinee.

So hard to keep up - why did the Colorado capitol have a portrait of Jiminy Glick on the wall?

6506 W Belmont. A very tasty tavern style. But the place isn’t a tavern, so byob.

Social reminded me that this happened 12 years ago. They made me laugh more than I made them. Tip: with people like this, don’t even try. But show some love for their home state. Be a pander bear.

Looking out our rental on Austin Blvd by Chicago Ave. A ‘54 Buick and Lutheran church across the way - old oak predates them both. Sirens go to and fro West Suburban two blocks south. Decent tacos on the corner. Nice neighbors, though it seemed we had the Jesse White Tumblers above us last week.
