It's just one sprig of sarcococca, not much taller than plain G. nivalis snowdrops, but it has scented a whole room. A glorious little shrub, quietly glossy and evergreen the rest of the year.

The dark side of my January garden was the murder of crows I appear to be cultivating. No actual crow-crows, mind you: rooks and jackdaws and the occasional hoodie.
