@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social CAPITULATION or STRATEGIC VICTORY?
My initial reaction was “oh no!” However, the more I thought about it, the Democrats moves last Friday and over the weekend make good sense.
Why?

Republicans must now answer for stripping healthcare for 20m+ Americans and food benefits to 44m.
In December the Senate will debate ACA premiums. Watch how Republicans vote.

MSM is asking the wrong question. It’s Republicans who stripped healthcare from tens of millions of Americans. What are THEY going to do about this?

NY Times gets it wrong on consequences of election. Democrats no more have one single approach to government than do Republicans. What works in NYC may be quite different from Burlington, VT.

Why do some in MSM still think Democrats need to chose one philosophy of government? Aren’t the issues and needs in communities often different? Why do they think there’s a single solution?

@smerconish.bsky.social your presentation of Democrats needing to pick between democratic socialism or moderation is false. You seem to have missed the meaning of Tuesday’s election. Elections are local representing the needs of local communities. Democrats just proved this.

@smerconish.bsky.social if the question about democratic socialism is you receive health care through taxes not monthly premiums; and a free college education vs hundreds of thousand of debt, you might find rural America answering differently.

@smerconish.bsky.social first many people don’t understand democratic socialism. It’s not the same as Marxism. Confusing these is not helpful. Small business capitalism and monopolistic crony capitalism are not equivalent even though both use a similar word.

Scott Bessent’s hedge fund Key Square had inconsistent performance led investors to withdraw capital, causing the fund's assets under management to shrink from a peak of around $5.1 billion to $577 million by the end of 2023. And he’s lecturing plaintiff’s lawyers about their economics knowledge?
