Has anyone written or found an adventure module based on the Icelandic Yule Lads? I feel like this is a missed opportunity to create one of the better christmas themed battle royales? #osr #ttrpg #dnd

5 things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.5 - I learned more Baltic history, town and river names, battle formations, mythology, pantheons and more than I ever thought I could. I have impressed locals with this knowledge, and I am excited to learn even more. Makes me appreciate good museum curators.

5 things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.4 - This is a very niche side of a niche hobby that my parents don't understand, but they are proud of my efforts and my Mum did some calligraphy for a module. My wife refers to it collectively as my "pencil stuff" and she is sad when I don't do it.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.3 - What needs to be written to run it vs what needs to be written for someone else to run it. I have written multi session adventure lines that were 4 dot points on the back of a receipt. Happily making up stuff as I went.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.2 - The value of well purposed factions. The why, the how, the when, the back story. Factions can be such a game changer for everything and are perfect for a location based adventure. Every run through is different.

At the start of #hexcrawl25 I thought - "This won't take long" I finished the overview by August, the actual work began. This may take years to "finish". Maybe the point was never to "finish" But just to make. To write, draw, imagine, create bowls for amazing soup stories to reside in.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.1 - How to draw maps. Until this year I have drawn maps, but never ones that were good looking. Just practical lines for me to follow as the GM. This year I drew many different styles for different locations and am quite proud of some of my output.

My years long process of getting my drivers license for the second time has ended. Yesterday I drove my self to pick up the physical card and when I returned home I felt like I was on drugs. I may have missed this feeling of freedom.

Monday Moan - Why would you set up a new platform for hundreds of people to use, then spend months in training, but when the day comes to swap everything to that platform, I can't log in? How was that the stick in the mud? I am trying my best to do good. Just give me the tools. What's your moan?

Soviet block apartments as a quest location. Every level the elevator is broken or full of monsters. Each floor has different doors and locks and random encounters. Different suspicious old ladies who want to give you soup or make you help them down the stairs.

I stopped listening to music because of podcasts. And now trying to find good new music is like "Oh yeah they sound like Dillinger except slower" or "Oh sounds like ETID but the guitar tone is too sludging" return to podcasts. But now podcasts are getting samish too. Same drama.

Furiosa as a quest line - Return home. Not a module type I have run, but fascinating. Returning with treasure. A breakout module where the reward is safety or resolution. Levelling up to find a way out. Encouraging loyalty within a system. Sabotage to escape. Possibilities. #osr #rpg

An old temple stood here long ago but only the front door still stands engraved with runes no longer known. But it is a doorway to a cache of dreams and power. After rededication and consuming the right stuff, an entrance can be found. Four themes. Traps. Treasures. Beasts. #ttrpg #dnd #osr

New Mad Max as a module. It showed the beauty of a nuanced BBEG. The balance of tension between the three locations and the mad recklessness of the rampaging destroyer. The players could align with one or the other to take out the threat. Or join the threat in destroying everything. #osr #rpg

I watched the new Mad Max. I constantly evaluated it through the lens of "A great adventure module." Three bases. Multiple factions. A hero levelling up through aligning with different factions or being kidnapped. Tension. Terrible decisions (or rolls). A great setting. A literal sandbox. #osr #rpg

Home is people. Not a place. If you go back there after the people are gone, then all you can see is what is not there any more.

Assassin’s Fate
Nighteyes: ..let us die as wolves!
Fitz: What would you have me do, chew off my own leg?.... my teeth are wrong, and I’d likely bleed to death before I escaped.
N: Then why did you suggest it?
F: I was being sarcastic.
N: Oh. Bee was not sarcastic. I enjoyed that about her

"Every small, unselfish action nudges the world into a better path. An accumulation of small acts can change the world." Fool's Fate

I should probably read them again.
