I finished the first draft of my fourth novel today. It still needs a lot of work, but that’s what editing is for. I find editing much easier than writing, but that’s apparently not the case for all writers. I wonder what makes editing more difficult for some than drumming stuff up from scratch. 🧐

I got a query rejection that said it was a really hard decision because the agent enjoyed my pages, but the MG fantasy market is tough right now. And honestly, I’m counting this as a win. The agent took the time to personalize that message, and it gave me a lift. I think it means I’m close. 🤞🏻

My first MG fantasy series is about vulnerable kids who are rescued from our world and taken to a world where they are safe from the adults who tried to harm them.

I started it twenty years ago, but it feels more apropos now than ever.
