Listening to Nick Cave with my 7yo. She loves Where the Wild Roses Grow. I thought the meaning was over her head. She puzzled it out, so now my kid happily sings a murder ballad. Is there a word for being both proud and ashamed?

If you're looking for something to watch this weekend with young kids, Spellbound might be worth a look. My 6 year old daughter was into it the entire time, which is the most important metric. Pretty good introduction to D&D inspired fantasy.

Really interesting article linked by Dan Carlin about an experiment run to replicate ancient Greek warfare. They recruited men of a similar size to that of a hoplite of the era and suited them up in similar armour and monitored their vitals.
