Useful thread below for those evacuating in California
SoCal friends, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. A few things I wish I’d known as we evacuated ahead of a wildfire (that took our home in 2021) 🧵

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

When an editor says "perfect timing" in response to a pitch!

All my 2024 assignments are filed, followed up on all the necessary emails, check lists checked (ahead of schedule).

What a gift I gave to myself! And it was a complete surprise, too.

Since I'm still new here, I'm not quite sure how journalists are interacting with the site, but let's give this a go:

I guess a good place to start would be to introduce myself.

I am a writer with a lot of form fluidity. Obsessed with science, books, traveling, and running. I prefer to be untethered.

Now just to build that followers list back up from scratch so someone actually sees this 😆
Why not make my first post be an announcement of some new poetry? Published this fall in Stand Magazine: www.standmagazine.org

I wrote these six pieces during last year's Postcard Poetry Festival, hosted by Cascadia Poetics Lab, an event that I've come to adore.
