Some nice Candlesnuff Fungus (Xylaria hypoxylon), one or two Wood Blewitts (Lepista nuda) and Scurfy Twiglet (Tubaria Furfuracea) on the walk around the park today.

Been abroad for a few weeks. Surprised that it still feels so mild. Think this was a Tasgius Morsitans (Rove beetle) on the path today.

Wasn't sure what this was on the front door today. Irecord says it's a Western Conifer Seed Bug- Leptoglossus occidentalis. Must be an early instar. I have previously seen adults in the garden.

A tiny speck of red on the garden gate. Looks like a Sphaeroderma testaceum (artichoke beetle) but could be wrong.

Not many insects on my walk today as most of the flowers have gone over but spotted this Yellow-sided clover sawfly - Tenthredo notha. Difficult to get a photo due to the stiff breeze.

Spotted a solitary wasp on Eryngium at my daughter's. iRecord suggests Gorytes laticinctus, but Nottingham seems to be at the northern edge of it's range. Can anyone confirm the id please?

Went around a few open gardens today in the heat. Walking past a bee hotel in one when I spotted this Javelin wasp. I have been trying to get a picture of one in my garden without success.

Went to see a colony of Marbled Whites at a local reserve. Good numbers of butterflies but I also spotted another longhorn species (Golden-bloomed) and a Yellow Shell moth.
