Yes, the marine life in Madeira is amazing - my colleagues on board reseach vessel MERIAN for example are currently discovering various gelatinous animals that have not been reported from these teeming waters before. Follow their blog here👇🏻
The Jellyweb expedition (MSM126) is currently exploring the biodiversity and food webs of the deep sea around the island of Madeira. The team is now blogging from aboard the MARIA S. MERIAN: www.oceanblogs.org/msm126/2024/...

The international expedition MSM126 “Jellyweb Madeira” on board the research vessel MARIA S. MERIAN will set off tomorrow to explore deep-sea habitats around Madeira. In particular, the researchers will investigate the role of jellyfish in the oceanic food web: www.geomar.de/en/news/arti...
With camera systems, nets and a deep-sea Robot on an Ocean Discovery Journey
08 February 2024/Kiel/Funchal. Jellyfish are notoriously difficult to study because they are extremely fragile and therefore difficult to catch intact with nets. As a result, the contribution of jellyfish to the oceanic food web remains largely unexplored. This is particularly true for the deep sea, where there are still many blank spots on our map of knowledge. An international expedition with experts from different fields of research sets off tomorrow to explore unknown underwater habitats and their biodiversity around the island of Madeira. In particular, the researchers will study the role of jellyfish in the oceanic food web.

The METEOR expedition M196 took a research team led by GEOMAR to the Gulf of Corinth in December 2023 to investigate a newly discovered source of groundwater in the seabed. It might help address water scarcity under changing climatic conditions. Hannes Schuler tells the whole story here:
Expediton M196: Ein Schatz unter dem Meeresboden / Treasures under the seafloor
