💀 Back from the dead with a new episode! 💀

We finally had a chance to sit down and wax about our voyage seeing Iron Maiden at London Stadium earlier this summer.

We also take the chance to reflect on that *other* big metal event too!

Ooh, this is a nice memento from the London Stadium gig (even though I don't know a thing about football). And look who shows up in it - it's only Blaze Bayley!

Fittingly, our interview with Blaze drops this Thursday - don't miss out!

👀 Is that a new episode? 👀

To distract ourselves and you from the inevitable comedown of seeing Maiden live in the flesh last week, were back.

This week, we're chatting to Adam, frontman of death metal band Angron. Listen wherever you get your pods!

I'm sure it goes without saying, but we had an absolutely mind-blowing time seeing Iron Maiden yesterday at London Stadium. Top band, top night, top company - what more can you ask for?

Here's one we didn't have on our bingo card for the pod - the British Library is archiving Maiden Voyagers as part of their Sound Archive.

Who knew talking about Iron Maiden was going to be our enduring legacy to the UK? We are totally flattered, privileged and bemused!

Sounds like the whole Soundhouse Tapes release was more of a mess than we knew!
Paging @maidenpod.bsky.social - in 1980 you could send off for a copy of The Soundhouse Tapes for £1.20. You wouldn't necessarily receive it though

Bledd mentioned on this week's pod that there was an error when it came to which version of 'Running Free' appeared on the 'Axe Attack' compilation.

One of our listeners @jayeyeworthy.bsky.social‬ shared with us this little snippet from Sounds explaining the cock-up!

Iron Maiden pictured during the recording sessions for The Soundhouse Tapes, but who's that second from the left? (No, not the dog!) It's certainly not Dennis Stratton, that's for sure...

New episode drops tomorrow, where we'll be digging in to The Soundhouse Tapes and more!

@maidenpod.bsky.social I feel like you guys need to see this

Ooh, so we're not completely off base then. Shame that rumoured deal is shrouded in mystery!
No More Lies is rumoured to have been one of the Blaze-written tracks that were bought off of him when he left the band, to your point about it sounding like it could be on TXF/VXI.

Our second part in our 'Dance of Death' deep dive drops tomorrow.

As ever, we get far too in to the weeds about the material and offer Steve Harris and co. unsolicited pro-tips on how they could have made the album better.

Join us as we get plenty of ideas above our station!

I'm not going to post it because spoilers, but the Run For Your Lives set list is a bit good isn't it? I'm a happy camper, at least!

Sam's constant shoehorning of Savatage into the podcast finally vindicated by this clipping of Nicko McBrain picking them as best new band in a 1985 Kerrang. See, there was a Maiden link after all!

Needless to say, I am very excited to finally see Savatage next month!

Post-work pod planning with a pint!

Glad to see the first part of 'Dance of Death' is going down well. Part 2 will be in a fortnight, then we've got a couple of other fun buts before we just in to 'A Matter of Life and Death'.

Watch this space!

📢 Finally, we're live with a new episode!📢

This week, we start looking in to Iron Maiden's 2003 record, 'Dance of Death'. A very formative album for both of us - in this part, we discuss the lead up, the making of and, yes, *that* artwork 🤮

Right, we are finally back this week with the first part of our dive in to Maiden's 2003 album, 'Dance of Death'. Drops on Thursday, as usual!

Yes, yes, it took long enough but in my defence, I got tonsilitis at least twice during the last month. But onwards!
May 19, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Just your Maiden Voyager boys having a school trip out in Swansea to see the inimitable Blaze Bayley.

Playing 'Silicon Messiah' in its entirety along with a smattering of Maiden era classics, Blaze proved he is still one hell of a voice and frontman!
May 17, 2025 at 5:58 AM
The first Dance of Death ep is almost here folks! The first @ironmaiden.bsky.social album I (Bledd) bought on the day of release and also my first Maiden tour; Cardiff International Arena, 15 December 2003 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Not even the abysmal artwork can stop this poster from having pride of place in the hall 🤟🏼
