I finally got through this absolute tome. While it was definitely too long and a few plot points were rather silly, overall I quite enjoyed this read. The scene where the chef in Suus makes him the fancy meal?? Beautiful.

The Seep by Chana Porter A delightfully bizarre little book. The audiobook narrator did an incredible job with all the different voices; they absolutely brought this story to life. I was reminded of A Psalm for the Wild-Built, but The Seep does a much better job of integrating its philosophical leanings into the storytelling. This was charming, meditative, and thought-provoking, with an odd assortment of believable characters and no clear right or wrong answer for how to exist in this strange new world that is, like all utopias, utterly ambiguous. A very enjoyable read, and I suggest listening to the audiobook for this one!

Done. Wow. I’ll leave a review tomorrow but what’s there really to say?? This was perfect.

I’m also now tracking how long it actually takes me to read. I think I tend to be a slow reader — I often reread paragraphs and passages. Spent roughly 12.5 hours on this.

a note now that I’m at the 50%+ mark: as much as I love the story, I HATE the audiobook narration. Achilles has been sounding like a middle aged automaton since he was 9 years old.

Gonna need to get myself a physical copy of this to reread at some point.

the cover for Song of Achilles tricked me into thinking this would be dense Greek mythology so it took me ages to start (also my fault I didn’t read the blurb. still haven’t👀)
