Converting a fully finished paper from LaTeX to Word is probably the most painful thing I have ever had to do. Is there really not any reeeeeeelatively easy way of doing it?

See you in Denver at #ICA25!

I’m so happy to finally talk about this large cross-national collaboration we did last year!

I was fortunate to assemble a team of extraordinary people to study the role of ad delivery algorithms in political campaigns by collaborating with 30+ parties across the EU.

A majority of Danes are in favor of the content moderation policy, which Meta now wants to remove.

But there are also areas where most Danes believe that people can decide for themselves, e.g. whether women can share pictures of themselves topless on the beach.

See a sample from our report below:
Meta drops content moderation which users want! ⛔

New data show that users (n=2000 Danes) both disagree with some of the announced changes (like referring to religious groups as stupid) *and* dislike some policies being kept.

We need voices from users on this. And especially from non-US users.

Having compiled the entirety of my dissertation for the first time has quite a surreal feeling to it

But I just wrote a whole section in my dissertation on the backdrop that they want to get rid of politics on Meta, and I have to hand it in in three weeks. Grrrrr

Two salient facts about Facebook replacing its fact-checking program with community notes:

(1) community notes are cheaper.
(2) the incoming political regime dislikes fact-checking. So community notes are less trouble.

The rest is just framing. Zuck's sole principle is to do what's best for Zuck.
Zuckerberg says Meta plans to eliminate its fact-checking program, move content moderators to Texas to address claims of bias, raise the bar for enforcing its terms and lift certain “restrictions” on immigration and gender talk.

Huge shift in platform policy.

Two things can be true:
1. AI is going to be an increasingly important part of work
2. Saying people need to be able to use AI well in its current form is like the silly obsession with making sure people had Windows PC skills when I was in college

College students caught between professors' AI bans and employers' growing demand for AI skills
Research shows 75% of workers now use artificial intelligence on the job, yet many universities still classify its use as cheating.
