Been a busy afternoon and I completely missed #ewgc. Boo! Hope everyone had a good one. I'll be combing through the posts to see what I need next.

Great chat everyone - though I've added too many more titles to my tbr. Next up will likely be one of these. #ewgc

My last thriller, and the grittiest, is DARKROOMS by Rebecca Hannigan. Set in a small Irish town where 20 years ago two girls went into the woods and only one came out. Complex protagonists (not always likable) and a complicated plot made for a engrossing read. #ewgc

Jessie Mihalik is starting a new fantasy romance series with SILVER & BLOOD and it has all the good stuff, mythical beasts, magical castles and a great h/h pair. #ewgc

Side note: Has this happened to you? You read an early copy of a book, add and rate it on Goodreads, and then, because you're one of the first to read it, all the books suggested by GR as "readers also enjoyed" are all other books you've read and rated? Kind of always gives me a kick. #ewgc

Nalini Singh's SUCH A PERFECT FAMILY is a well done domestic thriller set in New Zealand. Loved it. #ewgc
September 4, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Cait Jacob's THE PRINCESS KNIGHT surprised me. It's billed as Legally Blond romantasy and has a mostly pink cover, and yes the elements are there, but there's also political power games and a military coup/invasion. Nicely done. #ewgc

A group of sorority sisters meet up for a reunion in one of their homes in Palm Springs but buried secrets and a past death haunt them (perhaps even literally) in WE WERE NEVER FRIENDS by Kaira Rouda - fast, thrilling read. #ewgc

THE ODDS OF YOU by Kate Dramis is a thoughtful and charming romance set mostly on the Isle of Skye that made for a engaging read. #ewgc
September 4, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Valerie Wilson Wesley's THE MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF JUNETTA PLUM is set in 1926 Harlem and I loved every bit of it. Atmospheric and clever mystery. #ewgc
September 4, 2025 at 8:17 PM
WE ARE LEGION (aka WE ARE BOB) by Dennis Taylor is a forthcoming reissue that I really enjoyed. Bob is a tech millionaire who arranges to have his head frozen to be brought back in the future. A century later he wakes up as an AI/android tasked with exploring the universe, if he can survive. #ewgc

Loved INSIDE MAN by John McMahon - Gardner Camden leads the PAR (Patterns and Recognition) unit for the FBI, investigating a militia group when he finds his case connected to a serial killer. Nicely complicated plot and great characters. #ewgc

Cooler than usual here, 61 today, but I love it. Great reading and sleeping weather. #ewgc

@penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social brightened my day with #bookmail. Here are the lovelies (with a @wednesdaybooks.bsky.social title squeezing in). Thank you! Now, what to read, what to read? I'm thinking some CURSED DAUGHTERS might hit the spot. What say you?

#bookmail makes me happy. Thanks @simonandschuster.bsky.social for brightening my day. First up will be Everyone in the Group Chat Dies. 🙂

I dipped back into Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Stars series and loved AND THE CROWD WENT WILD - a lovely, heartwarming, emotional read. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Amy Pease's WILDWOOD is set in my state (northern Wisconsin) in an isolated rural area. But rural doesn't mean cozy. Here there are drugs and economic issues and an undermanned police dept. Gritty thriller. #ewgc

In THE HEIR APPARENT Rebecca Armitage imagines an England with different royal family (still based in historical details), has a princess who left royal life behind suddenly pulled back in when an accident puts her first in line for the throne. More serious and deeper than the cover suggests. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Edward Ashton's AFTER THE FALL has dark themes, but also heart and humor? It's a mix that Ashton always manages to pull off and works once again here. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:23 PM
YOU'LL NEVER FORGET ME By Isha Raya is a cat-and-mouse game that becomes personal between a female private eye trying to trap an up and coming actress who may have killed to move ahead. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Lori Rader-Day's WRECK YOUR HEART is a big-hearted novel with a wise-cracking, country music singing, heroine who lives in Chicago and is down to her last pennies. And if that's not bad enough a woman has gone missing and a body has been found behind the bar where she works. Loved it. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:14 PM
An existential mystery thriller has Death on sabbatical and trying to figure out how there are "unplanned" deaths (murders) happening in DEATH AND OTHER OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS by Veronika Dapunt. #ewgc
August 7, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Will be posting fast and furious as I likely have to leave early. So first up for me will likely be in my top 10 for the year - THIS KINGDOM WILL NOT KILL ME by Ilona Andrews - first in a new fantasy series that was even better than I hoped/expected. #ewgc
