So basically I think absolutely everything happening right now can be boiled down to: white cishet men now have to actually provide value - to employers, to partners - to be considered for the job/partner, because there are other options, and they cannot handle it. At all.

People in TV shows are constantly een to be having wine or a drink at home alone with music playing. Is this a thing people do? Like the TV isn't on, are they just sitting there? I often have a drink at home, or listen to music, but there's always a 3rd thing also happening. TV or chores or whatevs.

Increasingly frustrated with articles like "Trump signs EO saying X, but experts say that this isn't true" like DO YOU THINK HE CARES. None of them care what is true, supportable, legal, or accurate. You think he'll be like "Oh wait, my bad, never mind?" When you point out that he's full of shit??

Posit: A big contributing factor to *gestures at everything* is the cultural attitude, seen in every cop and action movie/show, that people who follow the rules and safeguard people's rights are stodgy, boring and definitely not on the side of the heroes.

I don't talk hockey much on here but last night the Blue Jackets' sophomore 3rd round pick Adam Fantilli scored his first NHL hat trick in Toronto, WHERE HE'S FROM (sort of), with like 100 family and friends watching, PLUS his first shorty. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT ADAM FANTILLI OK

Came across this comment on a post about Pentatonix singing the national anthem: "Our anthem is so beautiful, they don't need to embellish it." Excuse me? Our anthem is HORRIBLE. It's a terrible song to sing, has weird intervals, is in nobody's range, and is generally awful. It's just familiar.

I'm a writer, reader, former bookseller, and I'm irrationally irritated by book fetishism. Having a bunch of books is not a personality, or a sign of high intellect. Books are not sacred objects. A physical book is not superior to an ebook. You're not special for "loving that book smell." Stop it.

@joescott.bsky.social Hey Joe, new listener & Nebula subscriber. You've expressed shock at that 600K people reported missing annually? It's misleading. Only about 5% of those STAY missing. Most are back within 24. That 600K includes kids who get lost at the mall for 2 hours but the cops get called.
