Every month for the last 77 years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated Americans' unemployment rate

This streak officially dies today.

Staff couldn't survey Americans in Oct. It’s the 1st time in 934 months.

This blind spot will remain forever.

NEW: The Trump-Vance White House has falsely accused an ally of Pope Leo — Sr. Norma Pimentel — of illegal activity tied to migrant aid, and cut off all federal funding to Catholic Charities in Texas.

Church leaders say it’s a targeted, political reprisal against Pope Leo and the Catholic Church.

Title of paper is “Then Who’s Flying This Plane?”: Vertical Integration in the Airline Industry
Anyway… working on my paper on airline vertical integration
I hate IO. I’m not interested in IO. Asking me to think about anything to do with mergers, pricing behavior, or the airline industry insults my personhood and erodes my will to live.

A couple times a week, I have to forgive myself all over again for applying to an RA job in fall 2021 that I was woefully underqualified for but didn’t fully know how unqualified I was. The embarrassment hasn’t gone away after 4 full calendar years.

I’ve spent years trying to learn how to only want what I can reasonably hope to achieve but the world keeps changing in such a way that that “reasonable” erodes as fewer and fewer people are being allowed to have those kind of careers

I think I might be becoming calmer and mentally healthier bc now I don’t fly into a rage when I see somebody whose work I think is cool and whose career I admire and then I look at their CV and it’s just abundantly clear that we come from completely different backgrounds
