Shocked to learn XCOM is decades old! Was watching XCOM Enemy Within and apparently it's a mix of resource management, turn-based combat, missions, pretty good cinematic and I'm a big fan of the cross-section style thing at the home base. Amazing stuff.

Has anybody read "Mama!" by Banana Yoshimoto in Dead-End Memories? Book is due so I can't reread but [spoiler!] was Mimi (narrator) the writer Yamazoe (poisoner) was stalking? And that she'd told us nothing about this part of her life or was I to deduce some parallels from her childhood memories?

Act 3 after an embarrassing # of hours (160, IDC, you don't know me!). #Silksong I didn't know I could even reach this! I'm still at it! I won't be able to fight Shakra anymore, but I think I've beaten all other bosses including optional ones. I'm still very bad at it but I'm enjoying so much.

Why is Kid Cudi's music ticking all the boxes for me? Complex soundscapes, thoughtful lyrics, magical vocals. I very rarely consume an artist's entire album, but here we are and I've heard most of what he's released. I only learned about him thru that one B99 ep where Jake annoys him w/ bad guitar.
Went to a Waterstones to calm my random anx attack and saw a face-out copy of Colonialism under General History, w/c I haven't read but the premise is how colonialism wasn't all that bad.

A boarding gate restaurant at Dublin airport is apparently called The Gate Clock. I first read it as Gate O'Clock and I don't know if I'm happy with that or not.

LOL, taking a break from The Surgeon (?) by practicing Savage Beastfly v.2 and suddenly beat it out of nowhere, no tools used (because no shards left), so I was really just trying to memorize its patterns and the minions. Reserved Threadstorm for the minions though. #Silksong

#Silksong update: I am slowing down because I feel like the story is reaching its conclusion. My guess is that after unlocking the three things in the thing, there'll be some encounters that would herald end of act 2. So now I'm cleaning up quests and possibly optional bosses. Don't want this to end

Silksong (spoilery) update: Finally beat Broodmother after beating Sinner's Road chef (& upgrading needle), noping out of Conchflies pt. 2 and Lace pt. 2, and going full ratatata (with the flint injectible) at 2nd Sentinel. Am I close to wrapping up Act 2? I'm not sure I'm skilled enuf for Act 3.

I uh... finally bought a dictionary and a Roget's thesaurus for here in Dublin. I miss our old giant hardcover bible-like dictionary that got lost in the flood. It was my dictionary my entire life up until that time. I would love the Shorter OED but that's too big a purchase for now. Soon, soon.

Ooh I'm getting really annoyed by YouTubers doing Silksong content making closed statements about what skills you need to get this or that thing without understanding that there are often multiple ways, excluding skips, to do things, which is precisely the beauty of this game. UGH

In friend groups where the love language is throwing fun facts at each other: if the fact I'm now throwing back was a fact a person in the same group had thrown some time prior, does that make me a bad friend for forgetting who said it, or a great friend for remembering said fact? Maybe both?

I only ever had this really strange desire to live inside a video game with Hollow Knight, and it's because TC took great care to draw the knight resting on benches. Ori is absolutely gorgeous but Ori doesn't ever relax so my mind thinks it's not a thing in the game. AND HORNET GETS A BED NOW.

#Silksong Bad flu/nothing to do so of course I made good progress on game today. Beat the dancers, got the clawline against all odds, and they really force you to learn to use it because there was only one way out. All the gold rings make sense now. Do I have to do the misty area? I'm scared. :(
