Dydd Sadwrn 6 Rhagfyr 10am–12pm Gan ddefnyddio clai aer-sychu, a rhai technegau syml ar gyfer creu â llaw, byddwn ni’n creu clychau seramig bach ar gyfer y Nadolig. Fe gewch chi greu clychau niferus i’w hongian ar eich garlant, neu glychau unigol i addurno’r goeden neu i’w rhoi’n anrhegion i bobl. Gan fod hwn yn ddiwrnod agored, bydd Machspace ar agor i’r cyhoedd, ac felly rydyn ni’n eich gwahodd i ddarllen…

Diwrnod Agored: Defnyddio a thrwsio. Dydd Sadwrn 15 Tachwedd, 12–2yp Beth am ddefnyddio brodwaith a chlytwaith i drwsio’ch holl ddillad a’u gwneud nhw’n well byth?! Bydd Rosie yn gallu’ch helpu i benderfynu ar y deunyddiau gorau i drwsio dillad, a dangos technegau trwsio sy’n weladwy ac yn anweledig. Bydd patrymau sashiko ar gael i’w defnyddio i drwsio neu gryfhau dillad.

Diwrnod Agored: Kumihimo. Dydd Sadwrn 1 Tachwedd, 2-4pm Techneg blethu hynafol o Japan yw Kumihimo. Yn draddodiadol, mae’n golygu defnyddio sidanau i wehyddu addurniadau fflat (fel rubanau) neu addurniadau crwn (fel cordiau) ar gyfer dillad ac arfwisgoedd. Heddiw, bydd crefftwyr yn defnyddio’r cordiau satin tenau hyn i greu rhaffau, neu'n ychwanegu weiren gleinwaith a gleiniau atyn nhw i greu gemwaith.

Diwrnod Agored: Creu YsbrydMacramé. Dydd Sadwrn 26 Hydref 12-2yp Mae Calan Gaea’n dynesu ac mae’n bryd creu crefftau arswydus! Dewch i ddysgu sut i greu darn crog macramé ar ffurf ysbryd. Gan ddefnyddio dim mwy na dau gwlwm a hen hongiwr dillad, dyma gyfle i greu addurn Calan Gaeaf gwych i’ch cartref chi. Mae’r digwyddiad yn addas i ddechreuwyr a’r rheini sy’n brofiadol yn gwneud macramé.

Byddwn ni’n cynnal ein Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ar 12 Hydref rhwng 2pm a 3pm ac mae gwahoddiad cynnes i bawb! Bydd hwn hefyd yn gyfle (mymryn yn gynnar) i ddathlu ein pen-blwydd, gan y bydd hi’n ddwy flynedd ers sefydlu Machspace ar 20 Hydref. Saturday 18th October, 12–2 Screen printing is a form of stencilling where a paper stencil is attached to a wooden or aluminium frame which has a fine mesh tightly stretched over it. Ink is pushed through the mesh using a squeegee leaving an impression of the stencil on the fabric, card or paper placed under the screen. Originally the mesh was made from fine silk and the process was called silkscreen printing.

Saturday 4th October, 12–2 To celebrate Black History month, we'll be hosting a workshop to discover and illustrate the lives of historical Black and People of Colour in Wales, led by Rita Singer. Together, we'll create life-sized imagined portraits of people whose images have been lost. As it’s an open day, Machspace will be open to the public, and we invite you to read our open day rules before attending. It’s pay-as-you-feel, so anyone can attend regardless of income, and donations are very welcome. There will also be pay-as-you-feel refreshments.

Saturday 16th August, 12–2pm Macramé is an ancient Arabic technique of tying knots in cord, yarn or string to form objects. Come and learn some knot-making skills with our resident expert Pat Cook – you can make a plant pot holder or decorative wall hanging in just a few hours. It’s fun and addictive! All materials provided. As it’s an open day, Machspace will be open to the public, and we invite you to read our open day rules before attending. It’s pay-as-you-feel, so anyone can attend regardless of income, and donations are very welcome. There will also be pay-as-you-feel refreshments.

Saturday 20th September, 12–2pm Have you always been scared to use an electric sewing machine? Come and learn the basics with Rhian at our beginner-friendly open day. She will show you how to set up and use an electric sewing machine and will be on hand to support as you give it a go. This will be a skillsharing opportunity, so sewers of all levels are very welcome.

In this workshop you can choose to make one of two patterns to use up your fabric stash. There will be an opportunity to swap fabrics, and we will have some too! We'll be making...

The inks we will be using come from North Wales and are made using organic materials such as sheep’s wool and kelp and most importantly cleaned with water.

Dydd Sadwrn 19 Gorffenaf, 10am - 12pm Saturday 19th July, 10am - 12pm Come along to our upcoming open day, meet other crafters, gain some new skills and learn about machspace! Learn some basic making and sculpting methods, and make your own small air dry clay piece to take home and paint (once dry). Note - airdry clay is not suitable for use with food or drink, which - sorry to say - means you won't be taking home a new coffee mug or breakfast bowl 🙂

Cross-stitch is a relaxing and meditative form of sewing where an X shape is used in to create pictures, usually into a material known as aida. As it’s an open day, Machspace will be open to the public, and we invite you to read our open day rules before attending. It’s pay-as-you-feel, so anyone can attend regardless of income, and donations are very welcome. There will also be pay-as-you-feel refreshments.

It's not as alarming as it sounds, because you can be a member for only £1 per month.

Tomorrow evening Ruth and Avery will be hosting a volunteer meeting at Machspace. If you're at all curious, we would love for you to be there! Think of it as a volunteering consultation. We'd love to hear from anyone who has volunteered or who might consider volunteering. We hope to find out more about what kinds of volunteer tasks you think would work well for members, and what might encourage you or others to contribute your time and skills.

We've decided to increase cleaning frequency, and so we recently ran a brief survey to find out how members wanted us to communicate about cleaning sessions. The outcome was that very few people wanted to know when cleaning was happening in advance, and a third of members said they would like a sign on the door when cleaning was in progress.
