Gen X. 'Constant Reader.' I like reading old books, watching old anime, playing mostly old video games, and old music. Enjoy all genres but strongly lean towards horror and anything considered "classic." Also, cats. 🏳️🌈🌊✊️🇺🇦
Reading 29 year old Dickens telling his 1841 readers, "Wake up and think, because this is how they get you" is probably going to be the best part of my day.
I do love King, but to be honest this is probably favorite author. 185 years later, his words are still relevant, and his humor still hits. From Barnaby Rudge, written two years before he "invented Christmas."

I saw the close-up footage on tiktok, but I didn't feel traumatized. Thought something was wrong with me. Then, the anniversary of 9/11. I was 25, and I experienced it live and on repeat for months. That traumatized me. So, for 24 years, I've been desensitized by a trauma and fear mongering media.

"The center had frayed like a rag rug that had been washed and walked on and shaken and hung and dried. The thread that held the last jewel at the breast of the world was unraveling. Things were not holding together."

This has been a rough year. First, there's the political situation. My Dad has been in the hospital. Then I almost had to quit my job(long story). Had a family member move in. Lost another family member in a tragic accident. Had some heath issues. And this morning, one of my cats suddenly passed.

My Mom always believed in praying to St. Jude when things got desperate. I'm not religious, but I still say his prayer when things get super shitty. And sometimes the old man comes through. Maybe it's a form of casting a spell.

"My tunes and numbers are here. They have filled my years, the years when I refused to die. And in order to do that I wrote, I wrote, I wrote, at noon or 3:00 A.M. So as not to be dead." - 'Dancing, So As Not to Be Dead' an Introduction to THE ILLUSTRATED MAN, by Ray Bradbury.
