The Programmer’s Credo (an oldie but a goodie)
Has anyone else noticed the app is like 1/2 gym photos the past few days? Is it just everyone with their New Year’s resolutions? It’s actually kind of motivating, I have to admit. Almost enough motivation for me to log off so I don’t have to see all y’all. 😉

Fondly remembering when I taught Python to MS DS students at San Jose State. Never taught at uni before, only coding bootcamps. I asked if I could look at past syllabi and they were like 'you're expected to develop your own.' Alright, dude I was just trying to see what y'all have done in the past.

Yes! My Chair has agreed to my new course suggestion. Our MBA / MPA program focuses on sustainability and social justice. Turns out they used to offer one but the previous instructor got too busy. I feel like my first semester course drops off right when things get interesting. This should be fun!

Why would this be an enticement? If you apply you will NOT get hired.

Made some snarky comments lately which I deleted. This site doesn’t need to become that. I’m just stressed and frustrated by the actions of our govt in the short term (Venezuela), and in the long term inequalities we’re all facing.

Just suggested a new course at the uni I teach MBA students at - essentially 2nd sem data analysis. I think students would appreciate the option for a more quantitative focus, and I hope the faculty chair is at least receptive. Excited about this possibility!

2025 has been an absolutely fantastic year for film, which is so great after 2-3 off years. I rated 3 films at five-stars, which to me, marks a great film. Sinners, One Battle After Another, and Hamnet. Even better all 3 of these films are completely different from each other.

I’ve seen this screenshot floating around so I want to say the allegation is that lobbyists with access to Trump are being paid millions, not that Trump is being paid millions. That possibility seems worth investigating, but isn’t in and of itself evidence of Trump committing crime. Links in replies
If this is true, it is the most impeachable offense ever.

A guy with ‘No DMs, I won’t reply’ in his bio followed me. I followed back, he immediately DM’ed me

Lol. In light of Nicki Minaj’s latest Trump endorsement, I remembered this banger from Covid days.

When this is all over - and make no mistake, although the road may be long and painful, it will end - none of these companies ever gets to claim to support LGBTQ rights. ‘A principle is not a principle unless it costs you money.’

Women began outpacing men in educational attainment in the 1980s and 90s, graduating at higher rates from high school to grad school. What’s more, this trend holds across all ethnic groups. I wonder how much of the current right-wing backlash to higher education and institutions is due to this.

An AI tool mislabeled a clarinet as a rifle, triggering a school lockdown with terrified kids, parents, and teachers, including a full-blown police response. The CEO shrugged and said ‘that’s a feature not a bug.’ In the past, the same system has mislabeled a shadow as a weapon.
School security AI flagged clarinet as a gun. Exec says it wasn’t an error.
Human review didn’t stop AI from triggering lockdown at panicked middle school.
