As we were getting near the top of the sun was setting, crows were buzzarding around like a hurricane, cawing & crashing. We kept running the steps until we reached the top of the shrine. No people, no birds, the smell of rain, trees & crisp air. Stone shrines surrounded us & I could feel the Kami.

This past year I’ve seen a lot of ancient sites created by modern man. The Great Wall is one of the most amazing creations I’ve seen, and I ran most of this section down hill which was at times nerve racking but combined all my favorite things: history, adventure, and physical activity.

Hi- I’m deleting meta and this is a new start. It’s appropriate as I hit my midlife mark last year. Sometimes it’s sad to embark on something new, but the one thing I know well is that change brings good things. Even when it doesn’t seem that way.
