Oh, by the way, I was NOT kidding when I said Jacob stole a whole sheep for Adelyn in my Polilla story, so meet Charly (jokingly called 'the chocolate factory' because of his tiny candy sized poos 👀 I love his judginess dearly!

They walked back to the adjacent building together, Isi feeling a little flutter in her chest when he took everything in.
“How loud can you play music in here?” Lou wondered. She demonstrated the power of the speakers. And they danced together for over an hour.
Yes, she could get used to this life.

He’d apparently done it “for Adelyn”. And Isi had been bribed to convince all the adults involved that they could keep it.
Now she was held accountable every time the tiny demon ate something it shouldn’t have.
“You wanted to see my studio?” she ignored his laugh, walking out.
“I do!! Is it time??”
November 20, 2025 at 2:45 PM
“I am!” Lou’s tone was defensive, even though he knew she was joking. She took note of it. No more doubting his abilities. “Proof is, I gave that sheep a full check up in no time!”
Jero started chuckling in the back, while Isi’s cheeks warmed. Jacob had 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯 a sheep from the petting zoo.
November 20, 2025 at 2:30 PM
“I answered you!” Jero pointed out.
“Yes, you get points for that” Isi answered. He’d started to grow on her now, he was the kind of person who never backed down from a challenge. She liked that. “So is this it? This machine looks like a torture chamber. Are you sure you’re qualified to do this?”
November 20, 2025 at 2:15 PM
“Why is no one in this pack answering when I yell their name? Rory does this too!”
Lou got up from his chair, smiling: “We’re desensitised! We lived together for too long, calling each other names across the house for everything and anything. Rule was: if you’re not in the room, it’s not important.”
November 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM
She passed the new and comfy waiting room that had been set up next to the DIY shop, going straight up the stairs, calling Lou’s name. She could smell Jero too, tried his name. And finally got an answer.
Walking into one of the rooms, she threw a look towards Lou, hunched in front of a computer.

So she walked to the next door instead, letting herself in to the open shop that sat right underneath Lou’s new clinic. This early in the day, it was still completely empty. The kids from around there used the knick-knacks shop as their hang out space later on, but no sign of them yet.
November 20, 2025 at 1:30 PM
Soon, she was out, walking through town while the fog announcing fall was coming hugged the buildings tightly. She walked straight toward her new studio, but stopped before she reached the door. She’d promised Lou he’d get a look as soon as she was finished decorating.
And last night, she had.

“He said he didn’t mind” Rory pointed out, lifting Isi up to sit her on her lap, grazing the piano keys.
Isi hummed. “I know. He understood that I’m still uncomfortable being away from you for that long. I still get chills every time I come back and you’re not here.”
“It’ll get better, for us both…”
November 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM
As the song ended, Rory kissed the top of her head, leaning in to hug her.
“How are you doing?” She whispered above her head as Isi’s fingers played the last notes. “Have all the boxes Seki sent arrived now?”
“They have, you’ll have to remind me to get him something in thanks.”
November 20, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Rory started singing along, their melody weaving together, Isi feeling her heart swell, as it always seemed to do when Rory’s voice rose.
She couldn’t help looking up at her, imagining a life full of mornings like those, with hair still slightly wet, sun coming through the windows, music playing…
November 20, 2025 at 12:30 PM
As soon as she’d started playing, Rory was in the room too.
“Does it work fine?” She asked, tone eager. “I had it checked but I wasn’t sure if the dude was good or not…”
Isi didn’t answer, just started playing the first song she’d made for Rory and smiled when she gasped.

Days went by, quieter, the summer slowly dragging on.
The house was slowly changing, becoming inhabitable. They now had a bed, were moving their things into the space.
One morning, Isi found a piano in the room that had been transformed into a conservatory. It drew her in immediately.

Then, as they swayed in rhythm, she whispered: “Want to go to the petting zoo tomorrow?”
Rory chuckled: “Well that came out of nowhere?”
“Ade and Jake are going, they need a ride.” Isi explained. “And I want to spend the day with you.”
“Anything you want, dove.”
November 18, 2025 at 5:00 PM
A few minutes went by.
“I love this song” Rory finally said as the radio station transitioned out of a BB King song and into one she’d never heard before. “Dance with me?”
Laughing but unable to refuse, Isi let herself be twirled around.
November 18, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Even though Rory was reaching for it, Celene, on her side, was doing everything she could to cut ties with the memories.
Isi felt her partner’s breathing slow and deepen as they hugged. Her heart pinched. She wished there was more she could do to help than provide grounding.
November 18, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Rory pulled her close, wrapping her arms around her waist, eyes lost.
“Maybe… I guess we’ll see.”
It was both harsh and understandable. Lux wasn’t here anymore. It simply left the both of them to know what exactly had happened down in those tunnels. The bond was there, whether they liked it or not.
November 18, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Isi’s palm found Rory’s face, both of them leaning into the touch instantly.
“Celene said she didn’t want to see me. And wouldn’t let me meet the kid either.”
Something inside Isi twisted. That was a low blow.
“I’m sorry. Maybe she’ll change her mind, with a little time.”
November 18, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Walking straight to Rory, she let her brain catch up and noticed the alpha seemed… sad. Tired.
“Hey.”
“Why is your heart beating so fast? Did you miss me so much you ran over here?” Rory asked, smile not quite reaching her eyes.
“I’m fine, tell me what’s bothering you. It’s all over your face.”
November 18, 2025 at 3:45 PM
The radio was on upstairs, so she went straight to it. Almost ran up the steps.
Rory 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 be there. Isi needed to make sure she was.
Why had Isi even left her in the first place?!
Stepping into the room, finally seeing the head of dark blue hair, made her knees wobble with relief.
November 18, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Isi got back to the house, finding it empty. Most of the pack members were coming in to help out every day. Yet, not a soul in sight as the sun set on the mountains.
Isi’s heart stumbled, anxiety rushing in her gut.
“𝐑𝐨𝐫𝐲?”
Trying to stay calm, she reasoned with herself. She’d be here. Had to be.
November 18, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Isi’s smile deepened. It felt good to help this way instead of trying to pry things out of people. She put a hand on Adelyn’s shoulder:
“Anytime. And, if you want another piece of advice, find something fun to do with him, try to find the excitement of being a couple, it’ll help.”
November 18, 2025 at 3:01 PM
“Yes.” Almost a whisper but the power in it enough to let Isi know she’d been right to help.
“Feel like you own yourself again?”
“Yeah!” The teen smiled, running her right hand through her now green hair. “Thank you! And for the talk too. I needed to talk to someone who didn’t raise Jake and I.”
