Finally got around to backing up my google photos library elsewhere so I can remove all my photos from their cloud and degoogle and divest from big tech just a LITTLE bit more.

I feel like now is a great time while everyone is fired up about Nexstar to remind people that our local Rochester station voted to unionize ages ago and the management is still refusing to bargain with them.

Not a coincidence that the only coverage this received was from nonprofit news outlets. WROC workers have been struggling for some time - Nexstar’s behavior is shameful and I support this effort.

In an effort to curate my own feed of trusted news and info sources (and entertainment to some extent), I've just gotten into RSS feeds and readers and hot damn is the shit you can do with an RSS reader these days cool.

It's a small thing but I just popped in my first new pod since Omnipod approved Pixel 9 for use so I don't need to carry both my P9 and my old P6 just so I can give myself insulin and I feel FREE.

Finding accounts I used to follow on other platforms on here and being in their first couple hundred followers because their account is brand new is the SAME early-adopter feeling as having been on Tumblr when there was Tumblarity.

Continuing to lock down my privacy and divest from big tech, I've added Signal, swapped my Google authenticator codes to Aegis, and installed Droid-ify (a nice skin of F-droid) to grab FOSS projects outside of Play Store.

Still not sure how much non-personal project content I should or want to be posting, but morning chamber music is back at Eastman this weekend and I was able to finally freshen up the design (a design that predates me working at Eastman)!

Pushing a web graphic at work today and had the URL autofill in chrome (I use chrome for work) and when I went in to remove that URL from my history so it wouldn't do that, it offered AI powered history search. WHY WOULD I NEED AI SEARCH HISTORY?!

The more I move passwords over to the new password manager as I need different logins, the more I'm coming to terms with the fact that we ALL have TOO MANY PASSWORDS. I don't think the average person has or should have the head space to store dozens upon dozens of unique passwords in their head.

Tips because big tech is not your friend (these are steps I've personally taken over the last couple of months):
Obviously, drop as many apps and/or accounts as you are able but also get a good VPN. There are a several good options but I like Mullvad because they don't keep a record of your info.
