I think my major "fix" for Megas would be to either only give them to Pokemon that are fully evolved, give whatever could still evolve with a mega a proper evolution (Ala Archaludon) and introduce new ones in spinoffs that can be transferred around at a later date.
Forgot to write this when I beat Y but listen, after reading the Teraleak, I completely get why the game ended up the way it did.
I still had my fun with the game but it's still such a steep step down from Gens 3 through 5, I think Megas in hindsight kind of kneecapped most of what they touched-

Even though I’m not buying Pokémon Pokopia, it’s nice to see another Pokémon spin-off that isn’t a mobile game. Pokémon used to have a ton of them before the switch era, and I was worried they’d abandon them for mobile apps.
