Arranmore Island Co. Donegal reminds me of the bog land at home.

I found a seemingly impossible object in the vast expanse of sedge and sphagnum- a car bumper but no sign of a car!

Happened upon the Féile Róise Rua - an incredible ceilidh of people from all places interested in Seann Nos singing.

Started lambing on 27th March and the shed now has thinned down to a few stragglers and pet lambs. The Herdwick had gone down with toxaemia at the start of lambing but after calcium dose she has come good and finally had her lamb tonight. That’s the last of my daughters Herdwicks- good mothers.

This weekend I’ve been big walking in bogland and pondering some questions raised in a project I’m part of.

#JUSTLANZ is a multidisciplinary project exploring transition pathways to net zero in food/farming systems.

My latest blog post and pondering is attached.

A few pictures from January. Season of mellow fruitfulness for ewe scanning, the James Hutton hermitage, railways and long winter sun drops.

These bird bowls came out of the kiln yesterday.
Some are going to Havørn Gallery in Ullapool, and some will go into my online shop or I'll keep them for markets in the Spring.

A new day so a new painting for you. Well an old painting but you know what I mean. "Mayo Trees" was painted following a cycle in County Mayo. I'd stopped for a pint in Mulranny (It was raining, like really heavy), then headed north and stopped again - for these trees. #SpeirGorm #ArtAdventCalendar

Always interesting to read about other Beatties and this is a particularly fascinating tale of Scotland’s oldest surviving cello
Performance on Scotland's oldest cello will deliver the right note following restoration
The oldest surviving Scottish cello, which once belonged to a fierce opponent of the slave trade, will be brought back to life in a special performance at the University of Aberdeen.

I found this record in a charity shop and was fascinated by the academic exploration of plant music from Bose in 1906 to the present day
