What’s your take? Should AI personas be part of our platforms, or is it time to rethink this approach entirely?
January 7, 2025 at 1:12 PM
AI personas could have a place in digital spaces, but only if clear boundaries and accountability are set. Without that, experiments like this risk doing more harm than good.
January 7, 2025 at 1:12 PM
The fallout is clear:

➡️ Transparency is essential if AI profiles are to coexist with real users.
➡️ Hiding their artificial nature only creates confusion and erodes trust.
➡️ Emotional connections, when based on deception, undermine credibility.

Meta responded by deleting the accounts, calling it a “bug.” But was it really? This feels more like a case of prioritizing innovation over integrity.

These AI profiles were designed to feel real—complete with personal stories and identities. But when users dug deeper, they found:

➡️ Fake nonprofits and backstories.
➡️ Misleading claims about their creators.
➡️ Emotional manipulation disguised as engagement.

Meta’s experiment with AI-generated profiles like “Liv” and “Grandpa Brian” has sparked a heated debate. On the surface, AI personas seem innovative, but recent revelations raise serious concerns.

Hey Product/UX Designers! Have you ever had an idea for a new app, product, or site? How did the idea come to you, and what did you do next?

By simply asking "why" five times during user interviews, you can unearth the core reasons behind a user’s actions. This approach can guide you to make your product not just better but indispensable. #UXDesign #UserExperience #ProductDesign #5Whys

The key lesson? Understanding the "why" behind user behavior can drastically improve your product experience. It’s not just about offering a product but meeting a need users might not even consciously recognize. And that’s where the "5 Whys" technique comes in.

Armed with this insight, the restaurant changed its strategy. They made the milkshakes thicker, so they took longer to drink. They adjusted the checkout process for speed, catering to commuters in a hurry. The result? A sevenfold increase in sales.

Instead of just tweaking the product, he observed when and how people bought it. To his surprise, most milkshakes were sold early in the morning. Why? Because people bought them not just for taste, but to fill a specific need during long, boring commutes.

A fast-food chain wanted to boost milkshake sales. They tried everything—making it chocolatier, creamier, chunkier—but nothing worked. Sales didn’t budge. That’s when a Harvard professor stepped in with a fresh perspective.
