I think I’m gonna spend the next several books just doing one offs or stand alones. Writing a series is fun because you get a chance to expand the characters but sometimes I just wanna finish it and move onto a new story

I have a concept for a book but I’m struggling bc it involves elements of black trauma. Modern trauma to be specific. I don’t want position my community as suffer and rise, but I do want to highlight misconceptions about black archetypes in a story driven way

As storytellers, masculinity & femininity as one of the best opportunities to showcase how fluid and expansive it. It’s not simple boxes to check off when making characters, but a spectrum to explore and understand.

the conversation of “everything has been written before so why bother? Nothing is original” because I believe it takes away the fact that you, the author, are the original composer of this story. Your essence in the story is what gives it its originality.
