I've got an audiobook recommendation for you! Now let me preface this by saying, I really don't like most audiobooks? As soon as someone starts talking in complete sentences (as one does when they are reading a book out loud), I tune out. I love listening to podcasts, but I just can't concentrate on someone reading me a book. But I heard a recommendation for this one, and the review won me over.

I'm over a week late sharing an update about the auction! This year's theme was Back at the Big Cabin. The big old historical Territorial Administration building that houses the Dawson City Museum was apparently once referred to as the big cabin! Our employees did a great job decorating for the event! I waited until the day of to do all of my baking.

Whistler, again!

What a year - I'm just back from Whistler for my third time this year! I was in Whistler with my team at work - or 6 of us from our team anyway! It's been well over a year since we had a meetup and I didn't realize just how long overdue it was. And the timing was incredible,…

It's been well over a year since we had a meetup and I didn't realize just how long overdue it was. And the timing was incredible, having just gotten back from my sabbatical and struggling a bit to re-engage.

Beardmore’s Postmark

When I was travelling around the country on the second half of my sabbatical, I aimed to send Jeff a postcard every single day. It was a steep goal, that I didn't reach, but I just counted at least 22 postcards in a stack on our counter. Not bad!? We were flipping through them…

It's a lovely Thanksgiving Monday in Dawson City. Which means..... yep, the snow arrived this morning! It isn't expected to stay, but there is a lot out there now! As sweet as procrastination is, it's about time we finish our fall clean-up around here. Jeff was busy getting the…

As sweet as procrastination is, it's about time we finish our fall clean-up around here. Jeff was busy getting the boat off the boat trailer this morning so he can deflate it and fold it up for the winter.

It’s been a super lazy week

I think I'm just mourning the end of the adventures, or maybe the end of the nice weather, or maybe I needed some recovery time, I don't know, but I've been pretty chill this week. Just catching up on some YouTube and TV watching. I haven't finished cleaning everything out of the truck or getting all my gear put away. Most of it, but not quite all of it.

Reflecting on my road trip

I drove 15,590 km over the last two months. That’s a lot of kilometres of deep thoughts. I drafted various versions of summarizing my deep thoughts about it all, but it is all so personal, I can't word it in such a way that makes for good reading. At the core of it…

Today would have been even better if I did it over 3 days instead of just 1. But this time of year, there is no where to stop to camp so I knew I was going to have to go all the way to Liard River Provincial Park. Right away, when leaving Fort St. John, there was a big buck…

But this time of year, there is no where to stop to camp so I knew I was going to have to go all the way to Liard River Provincial Park. Right away, when leaving Fort St. John, there was a big buck (deer) road kill right in the middle of the highway as I crested a hill.

I started out with an iced chai latte and oatmeal cookie while watching some seniors skate.
